ORDER & PAY APP ROUND SUPPORTS NHS COVID-19 VACCINATION PROGRAMME WITH DONATION OF TABLETS

ROUND, the order and pay app, is supporting the UK’s vaccination programme by providing a number of new tablets to the Excel Centre.

The Excel Centre was last month transformed into one of the new large-scale NHS vaccination sites in the fight against COVID-19 with the Samsung devices now allowing the venue roll-out to run to its full capacity of 21 vaccination “pods”.

This has enabled the NHS to increase vaccination capacity at the venue to 12,600 jabs a day, up from 3,000. Medical teams and vaccinators will also be able to use the tablets for compliance checking, patient sign-ups and e-learning.

It is hoped that ROUND’s donation will further improve the technology infrastructure required to increase vaccinations by 320%, helping to protect East London’s most vulnerable residents.

ROUND was introduced to the NHS operations team by Inda Pubs Operations Manager Graham Blackwell, who is currently volunteering as part of the NHS Vaccination Programme in East London.

Speaking about the partnership, Graham said: “As we approached the third lockdown and another full closure of hospitality, I needed to do something to keep me occupied! So, when the opportunity came to volunteer at Excel, Newham it was something I really wanted to get involved in. Anything I can do to speed up the vaccination process means we can get hospitality back open as soon as possible.

“It became clear on my first few shifts that there was a lack of useful tech in each of the vaccination pods to help with the training process, qualify local inductions and generally help streamline the process.

“We’ve partnered with ROUND across all our sites extremely successfully since we first reopened last July and it made absolute sense to reach out to ROUND to see if they had any tablets that they could generously donate to help with the vaccination charge – and as usual they stepped up really quickly.”

ROUND Founder and CEO Ethan Martin added: “ROUND is proud to be supporting the NHS in its vital mission to vaccinate the British people against COVID-19. I truly hope our donation of these tablets will support the heroic doctors, nurses and volunteers who are working tirelessly to roll out the vaccine.

“As a hospitality technology company, we have seen how our industry has been impacted by the pandemic, so we are pleased to be supporting this vaccination campaign to help us return to normality.”

Lois Whittaker Managing Director, Education Academy, NHS Barts Health Trust said: “Graham Blackwell, part of the Education Academy Team at the Excel Vaccination Centre, was able to arrange a very generous donation of tablets from ROUND. These will make a big difference to the delivery of vaccination training at Excel.”
