Pedi romps home for fourth year running

Local beer, Marston’s Pedigree once again romped home in the fourth annual pint mascot race at Uttoxeter Racecourse’s Marston’s Beer Festival Raceday.

Cheered on by the sell-out crowd, the going was heavy and the Pedigree pint soon streaked ahead. In a closely fought battle of the beers, Pedi was first through the tape closely followed by Brakspear and Banks’s with Ringwood’s Old Thumper and Jennings Cumberland Ale trailing in behind.

Channel 4 Racing’s correspondent, Derek Thompson was first to the winning post to interview a very excited Pedigree pint. When asked about his winning streak Pedi commented: “You can’t hold a good pint back – I’ve got quality ingredients, I’m traditionally brewed and I always have an enthusiastic home crowd at Uttoxeter.”

James Coyle, Deputy Managing Director for Marston’s Beer Company added: “It was another successful event and everyone at the racecourse was delighted with the turnout and beer sales. The beer festival tent was busy all afternoon and it was great to see so many pub customers there on a day out.”
