Admiral Taverns is celebrating dynamic licensee duo Alan King and Joanne MacPherson at the Dick Turpin in York who have been at the helm for over 15 years. The Dick Turpin is owned by the UK’s leading community pub company, which has approximately 1,500 community pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.
Local to the area and passionate about hospitality, Alan and Joanne took over the pub in 2008 and have worked tirelessly to cement it at the heart of the community ensuring residents have a welcoming social hub for everyone to enjoy.
Admiral Taverns’ Business Development Manager, Andy Longley, recently presented them with a certificate that recognises their incredible service to both the pub and the local community.
Alan and Joanne support multiple local charities and have recently raised £5,000 for Martin House Hospice and £1,000 for The Snappy Trust, a local children’s centre. Actively part of their local community, they are always willing to make the premises available for important social initiatives such as the Woodthorpe Family Fun Day.
Alan King, licensee at the Dick Turpin, commented: “We are really proud to be celebrating such an exciting milestone at the pub – it’s been an amazing journey and we’ve loved every second of it. On behalf of myself and Joanne, we would like to thank all our loyal customers who have continued to support us over the years as well as our incredible staff who have made this all possible. I can’t wait to see what the future holds and look forward to continuing to welcome all our wonderful customers to The Dick Turpin.”
As a traditional community pub, The Dick Turpin offers a wide array of premium lagers and ales such as Timothy Taylor, John Smith’s, Cruz Campo, Madri, Carling, Fosters and Coors Light. As the local social hub they also host a regular schedule of events including weekly quizzes, live music and DJ nights and welcome both a darts and pool team every week. Regular live sport is also available for customers to enjoy with Sky and TNT Sports and features a function room available for private hire.
Andy Longley, Business Development Manager at Admiral Taverns, said: “I would like to send my congratulations to Alan, Joanne and the team at The Dick Turpin. They have created a fantastic pub that sits at the heart of their community and is extremely popular with the residents. I wish them all the very best for the future!”
