The Prince Albert pub in Ely has received a £280,000 investment by Greene King Pub Partners in conjunction with their long-term business partners Mike and Jeanene Connelly. The joint investment has created a new oak framed garden room, with bifold doors providing an additional 40 covers. Plus gender-neutral toilets, a pizza oven and a new kitchen all within the newly landscaped garden.
Since taking the site 11 years ago, Mike and Jeanene together with Greene King have already extended the original footprint by adding a conservatory to the small tavern and built a strong community following by offering home cooked food and a wide range of craft beer and cask ale.
Business development manager for Greene King Pub Partners, Chris Cocker, said: “Mike and Jeanene are experienced pub operators and are serial investors in their businesses alongside us. It’s brilliant to see what they have done at the Prince Albert over the years, I’m sure with the new trading area, they will continue to go from strength to strength”.
Greene King Pub Partners operates over 1,000 pubs in England, Scotland and Wales. It was awarded the Publican Awards Best Leased and Tenanted Pub Operator 2021, the fifth time of winning the accolade. It works with independent operators and entrepreneurs from a wide range of diverse backgrounds to operate its pubs. Mike and Jeanene Connolly also operate the renowned Royal Standard in Ely with Greene King Pub Partners.
