Windsor & Eton Brewery have announced news of their new beer to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Called CASTLE HILL, the new beer is available in 500ml bottles and later in the year in 440ml cans at 5% ABV and in cask at 4.5% ABV. The official launch is taking place at the Windsor Farm Shop and the brewery on Friday 18th February with advance consumer and trade orders from today.

Co-Founder Will Calvert explains:

“We’ve created a glorious beer that will appeal to a really wide audience. The Queen is a great supporter of the Commonwealth, so the recipe includes barley grown at the Royal Farm in Windsor and a selection of world hops including Pacific Jade from New Zealand. As a finishing touch we are using champagne yeast to create a beer that’s platinum pale in colour and refreshing in taste.”

As well as being brewed in the heart of Windsor, the new beer has very strong Windsor links with local artist Basia Dobrzalska commissioned to create the design. Basia’s popular series of Windsor and Eton art prints are influenced by vintage travel posters but created with a modern twist.

Artist Basia talks more about the design:

“I was delighted when I was approached by Windsor & Eton Brewery and given the opportunity to create the Castle Hill designs for The Queen’s Jubilee celebrations. Windsor & Eton Brewery has a history of developing strong brands with creative graphics and as a local artist it is fantastic to be involved with both a prestigious business and a celebration of this magnitude”

Castle Hill is the perfect beer to enjoy at the Jubilee celebrations being held across the country and locally in Windsor that are being co-ordinated by the Windsor Platinum Jubilee team.

For The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee back in 2012, the Windsor & Eton Brewery created three special beers. Whilst there are rumours of further Platinum Jubilee beers in the pipeline, for now Will Calvert is keeping quiet.

Windsor & Eton Brewery

Windsor & Eton Brewery was established in 2010 bringing back craft brewing to the heart of Windsor after an absence of almost 80 years. With two ranges of beer, Windsor & Eton and Uprising, the brewery’s beers have won over 70 international, national, regional and local awards and was awarded the Royal Warrant in 2018.

Supported by a successful crowdfunding in 2021, the brewery has recently opened a new purpose-built tap room and operates four other bars in Windsor and the Thames Valley.
