Red Oak Taverns Continues Substantial Investment Programme Investing a Six Figure Sum in The Cressy Arms, Dartford

Red Oak Taverns, one of the UK’s leading pub companies, together with newly appointed licensees, Mark and Deana Lewins, have just completed a six figure refurbishment in The Cressy Arms in Dartford, Kent. The historic pub was named after HMS Cressy, an armoured cruiser built for the Royal Navy around 1900.

Mark Grunnell, Director of Red Oak Taverns, comments: “We pride ourselves on the excellent working relationships we have with our tenant partners and we are very pleased to welcome Mark and Deana to Red Oak Taverns. The fact that they are an experienced couple and know the area well, gives me great confidence that the new and improved Cressy Arms will be a fantastic asset and the hub of the local community.”

He added: “Over the past six years, we have built our portfolio from 32 to 170 outlets and we are now on the acquisition trail, having transformed many run-down pubs back into thriving concerns in the heart of their communities. We’ve achieved this through investment and working together with our licensees of which Mark and Deana are a perfect example.”

Licensee Mark Lewins, who has run a variety of pubs for the past eight years said:

“Working with Red Oak Taverns has been absolutely fantastic, my only regret, is that I didn’t come across the Company earlier. From meeting their Operations Director, to agreeing to become a tenant partner in The Cressy Arms, took under two weeks. What’s great is that I’m dealing with the decision makers, so if there is an issue – it just gets sorted – without mounds of red tape.”

Mark and Deana are keen to support local breweries and will be working with Red Oak Taverns to make this happen.

The Cressy Arms is home to the local darts and pool team and situated next door to the Dartford Fishing Club. The new décor will pay homage to its regulars – quirky sports related framed prints will adorn the walls along with a variety of lake fishing paraphernalia – along with subtle references to HMS Cressy.
