George Tims joins Round Corner Brewing from Thornbridge Brewery
MELTON MOWBRAY, 5th January 2024.
Round Corner Brewing have appointed George Tims as the brewery’s new Head of Sales, marking a progressive moment for the Melton Mowbray brewery.
George joins Round Corner Brewing from one of the most prestigious breweries in craft beer, Thornbridge Brewery. Having previously held the role of Sales Manager and working for the Derbyshire brewery for 10 years, George has made the move south to bring the experience and skills he’s harnessed in previous roles to a brewery he’s heard only positive things about.
This new role, Head of Sales, has been created to help drive sales not only within the East Midlands but nationwide across Round Corner Brewing’s fast-growing keg and cask offerings, especially in the Midlands and continuing to grow small pack offerings nationally using George’s experience of working across high volume national sales. There will also be a focus on George synchronising all areas of the business to build a strong sales proposition for customers both on trade and retail.
With Round Corner Brewing announcing their 2024 Beer Calendar in the near future, George has already had an impact on what will be produced and where efforts should be focused for the year ahead.
George’s focus for Round Corner Brewing is to help the brewery grow naturally by improving their presence within the UK on trade. There is a clear aim to create a brand which develops from a local one to an instantly recognizable brand on bars and in fridges.
This moment shows both co-founders Combie Cryan and Colin Paige’s commitment to growing the brewery and taking award-winning craft beer to more areas of the country.
With the brewery continuing to grow year-on-year, 2024 will want to continue this trend and get uncommonly good beer into more craft beer lovers’ hands.
Round Corner Brewing’s Head of Sales, George Tims said: “To be joining Round Corner Brewing after 10 years at my previous employer is one I’m incredibly excited about. I’d met some of the RCB team over the years at festivals and then when the brewery collaborated with Thornbridge in 2023. My previous colleagues held the RCB team in such high regard and words of others in the industry matched this. Once I got the know the team and tried their beers, I wanted to join the Melton Mowbray brewery.
“After 10 years at Thornbridge where I evolved from packing, all the way through to sales, I feel I can bring those skills and experiences I harnessed, and I am so grateful for this opportunity at Round Corner Brewing.
“I hope Round Corner Brewing can become another recognisable trademark for Melton Mowbray. They have the pork pie and Stilton cheese, so why not RCB. I love the product and can’t wait to share the award-winning beer more widely across the UK.”
Round Corner Brewing’s COO and Co-Founder, Colin Paige said: “This is such an exciting time for us, Thornbridge was always a brewery we held in such high regard, so to have someone of George’s caliber join our business now is fantastic. I am looking forward to working closely with George and making improvements to our demand planning and supply chain to ensure that our uncommonly good beer reaches our consumers as fresh as it can be.”
Round Corner Brewing’s CEO and Co-Founder, Combie Cryan said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming George to Round Corner Brewing and be a part of our award-winning brewery.
“George’s experience speaks for itself and his passion for craft beer and commitment to help grow Round Corner Brewing was very special. Because of these important factors it was an easy decision to welcome George to Melton Mowbray.
“Creating this new role was a decision we felt pivotal in taking Round Corner Brewing to the next level and growing the brand nationally. We already have an incredible team who make stunning beer and experiences, but we feel a Head of Sales with George’s experience can make our offering even more special. We’re really excited about 2024.”
