Salcombe Brewery Co. announces that, following a major investment in its brewing and packaging facilities at a new additional site, it is ideally placed to meet the growing market for its award-winning beers. As the hospitality sector prepares to re-open, its investment will support the imminent launch of its first canned products, its first lager and its increasing partnerships with leading South West hospitality venues.
Salcombe Brewery Co. Chairman, John Tiner comments: “While the last year has been incredibly challenging for our industry we have taken the opportunity presented by the lull in trade to open a second site. This site complements our existing brewery at Estuary View and will house our own bottling, canning and kegging lines. We have also tripled our brewing capacity and introduced new cardboard packaging across the board to replace plastic.”
John explains: “In addition to the packaging and fermenting capabilities at the new site, we are also moving our cask and keg storage together with our distribution activities from our brewhouse at Estuary View. This will enable the brewhouse, tap room and shop to offer a broader range of experiences to our visiting customers. The expansion means we will be able to support the local community through increased employment and to open up new markets, both locally and further afield, for our Heritage and Discovery range of beers.”
John continues: “We are incredibly excited about the future. As well as investing in our capabilities we have also been able to develop a number of longer term partnerships with outstanding hospitality venues in the South West. We are looking forward to supporting all of our customers in meeting the thirsty demands of the public.”
Sam Beaman, Head Brewer comments: “The new facilities will present fantastic opportunities for the brew team to both increase volumes of existing beers and to introduce new products within our Discovery range. The lighter cans, which also lend themselves to product innovation, will enable us to propel our online offerings and seek new distribution channels.”
Sam adds: “We selected another Devon based business, Vigo, to work with us in the selection and commissioning of all of our new packaging and brewing equipment. We intend to make the new facilities available to other regional breweries who may be constrained in their packaging flexibility. Similarly, for those who have to send their beer to other parts of the country for packaging, using our local facilities will help them reduce the associated costs and logistical disruption, as well as the adverse impact on their carbon footprint.”
Salcombe Brewery’s range of beers is available nationwide in pubs, hospitality venues and retail outlets as well as online from www.salcombebrewery.com. Notes to Editor
Award-winning, SALSA accredited Salcombe Brewery Co. produces a range of premium cask ale and keg products at its innovative Estuary View brewery which nestles in the Devon countryside above the world famous Salcombe Estuary.
The site also boasts a well-stocked brewery shop and taproom. Visitors can purchase beer and branded merchandise, fill up growlers and enjoy tours, tastings and hands on brew experiences.
Salcombe Brewery Co.’s Heritage range of traditional British cask and bottled ales were the first beers produced by the brewery. This range has developed over time with tradition, quality and provenance at the heart of every pint. Brewed to satisfy the demand for quality fresh real ale, the range includes Devon Amber, Salcombe Gold, Shingle Bay, Seahorse and Lifesaver.
Salcombe Brewery Co.’s Discovery collection of keg products has been created to meet the expectations of the ever-curious craft beer consumer. This rapidly expanding range includes Salcombe Pale Ale, Salcombe Pilsner, Sun Drop, Island St Porter and Salcombe Cider.
The surrounding coastal environment is hugely important to Salcombe Brewery Co. and is reflected in its seahorse branding. The Salcombe Estuary is one of the few places in the UK you can find the rarer of the two species of seahorse and Salcombe Brewery Co. has partnered with The Seahorse Trust to raise funds to support these endangered creatures.
Constantly improving its sustainability credentials is a core objective for Salcombe Brewery Co. and as part of this ambition it recently eliminated all plastic from its packaging.
To support its innovation and rapid growth, Salcombe Brewery Co. recently invested in an additional site in South Devon which now houses its own bespoke bottling and canning plant.
