Independent family brewer Shepherd Neame has reopened its traditional Bromley town centre pub, The Bricklayers Arms, following a stunning £330,000 refurbishment.
The pub, affectionately known as ‘The Bricks’ by locals, closed last month for the renovation, which has kept the historic building’s original features and character while introducing a stylish and complementary contemporary feel.
It has been redecorated throughout using rich greens and cream, incorporating wood panelling, with pockets of snug seating creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
There is a new, welcoming bar which greets customers as they step in through the freshly-painted door to the spacious pub with a split-level layout, which has a second bar on the higher level. Both are well stocked with beers, wines, and spirits, while new furniture and lighting has also been added.
A new bespoke swing sign stands proudly outside, while the spacious courtyard garden has been transformed with new bench furniture for an informal feel and colourful planters. There is also a new innovative interactive darts where customers can pre-book online and enjoy games using the latest in social entertainment technology.
There is a special nod to the pub’s history, which dates back to 1851, as original brick tiling unearthed during the renovation has been restored and made a feature of on the exterior.
The pub has its foundations in friendly service and fine fare and in keeping with this a delicious new menu is also being introduced, offering a diverse selection of traditional pub classics with a twist, using locally sourced ingredients.
Customers will continue to be able to enjoy a wide range of Shepherd Neame’s award-winning range of ales and lagers, along with an extensive list of premium wines and spirits.
Shepherd Neame Managing Director, Pubs, Jonathon Swaine said: “At Shepherd Neame we place a high value on just how popular The Bricks is with its regulars and the people of Bromley, and we wanted to make sure it was a pub for them to be proud of.
“We believe we have created a warm and welcoming feel and improved The Bricklayers Arms in a sympathetic way to ensure it continues to be enjoyed by locals and visitors for many years to come.”
The Bricklayers Arms reopens its doors to customers today (Friday, September 21) at noon.
An official reopening will also be held on Thursday, October 3, attended by Bromley FC’s owner and Chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves and local organisations and charities.
