Skinner’s Brewery welcomes Sennen IPA to the fold

Skinner’s, the award-winning Truro brewery, is proud to announce that it has strengthened its core range of ales with the addition of ‘Sennen’. Sennen is a session strength (3.8% abv) dry hopped, IPA style brew, named after the beautiful Sennen Cove. It is the first draught product to be added to the core range for five years and the first Skinner’s core brew available in a 330ml bottle.

Eagle eyed Skinner’s fans may recognise Sennen as a previous seasonal brew, first launched seven years ago. Since being promoted to the core range, the recipe has been refreshed and it is now dry hopped. This process makes Sennen hoppier and more fragrant than ever before – great news for hop fans!

Skinner’s Founder, Steve Skinner, said:

“Everyone at Skinner’s is really excited to welcome Sennen to the core range. Anyone who has visited Sennen Cove knows just how beautiful it is and we’re proud to have created a brew which is deserving of the name.

“Sennen is a very special brew for us and claims two firsts for a product in the core range – it’s the first to be sold in 330ml bottles and the first to be dry hopped in the fermenter. The depth of hop flavour in Sennen is simply superb and we can’t wait to see what else we can do with this technique – keep your eyes peeled for more dry hopped brews from Skinner’s in the future.”

Dry hopping is a traditional British technique, originally used to help preserve ales without refrigeration, it fell out of favour in Europe but became a staple process in US craft beers. It’s now firmly back in vogue! Dry hopping is done at very low temperatures at the fermentation stage, which means that the resulting brew has intense hop flavours and aromas, without additional bitterness.

Sennen is a super pale brew with an exceptionally hoppy flavour, complimented by zesty notes of lemon and pineapple and enhanced with the bittersweet kick of pink grapefruit. It’s an ideal companion to fresh crab, proper pork pies and barbecue chicken.

In addition to being available on tap across the country, Sennen is the first of the core range to be sold in a 330ml bottle. It will initially be available in 330ml bottles in Tesco stores across Devon and Cornwall.

Not only does Sennen taste amazing but it looks awesome, too. The artwork, by Cornish-based illustrators A-Side, is worthy of a place on a gallery wall, with a heritage feel celebrating the beautiful Cornish coastline.

Sennen IPA brings an early taste of summer – with hazy warm weather, beach walks and paddles in the sea.
