So Lets Talk, a not-for-profit platform that provides education and support on all aspects of mental, physical and financial health inside of the hospitality industry, has collaborated with Tiny Rebel Brewery to release two no & lo beers aimed at directly supporting hospitality workers.

Tiny Rebel is an award-winning brewery from Newport, South Wales, the youngest and only Welsh brewery to win Champion beer of Britain.

The So Lets Talk x Tiny Rebel collaboration sees the launch of two beers, 86 The Silence and Speakeasy, generating a culture change in the hospitality industry by 86’ing the silence (‘86’ is a hospitality bar call which means to remove or get rid of something).

So Lets Talk are pushing to raise the bar in lo & no beers, while also looking to garner respect for mindful drinking across the industry and working with Tiny Rebel to create two flavours which are hard to come by in the UK – but universally respected by hospitality staff.

86 The Silence is a 2.5% Pomegranate Raddler, which has been designed to be the perfect after-work beer to wind down with. It’s also ideal for those who want something a little lighter on the ABV, while making the most of their precious time off.

Speakeasy is a 0.5% Hazy Pale Ale designed for those looking to be social and have a beer, but without the beer fear of a hangover the next day. Speakeasy is a refreshing and light beverage with hoppy, citrus notes.

The can designs for the two beers are also a reflection of the So Lets Talk national mural project in collaboration with Shawn Sharpe from Good Good Graffiti. The project has seen dedicated hospitality murals created across the UK, designed to raise awareness of the challenges the hospitality industry is currently facing.

The cans exhibit thought-provoking questions and conversation starters which encourage people to open up about the challenges they may be facing, both in work and in other aspects of their lives. The final designs were done by Rick Barrett of Ambitious Creative Co.

Arron Smallman of So Lets Talk said: “After many years of hiding from my own mental, physical and financial challenges, it feels good to be able to help others in a similar position to faceup and overcome theirs. This collaboration is a huge step in facilitating this change.”

“We approached Tiny Rebel with the idea at the start of the year and they have been incredible in helping us in our mission to 86 the silence. We’re excited for everyone to get behind this collaboration and help us to make a healthier and happier industry.”

Every can of So Lets Talk x Tiny Rebel will directly support the hospitality industry, with the cans available to purchase now on the Tiny Rebel website, priced from £2.30 a can:

Working with hospitality-focused individuals, businesses, groups and organisations, along with renowned experts from the fields of mental health, nutrition, exercise, finance and beyond, So Lets Talk develops bespoke solutions for the specific needs of those who operate in or with the hospitality industry.

So Lets Talk provides preventive and holistic sessions on mental, physical and financial health for hospitality businesses. These sessions are delivered from a place of lived experience by the So Lets Talk team.

So Lets Talk was created by Patrick Howley in January 2020. Paddy has spent well over a decade in the hospitality industry, where ‘earning his stripes’ led to destructive cycles of long hours, disrupted sleeping patterns, poor nutrition, high alcohol consumption and recreational drug use. The decision to create ‘So Lets Talk’ was inspired by Paddys’ experiences and lessons learned in not having an avenue for help during his time of need.
