MELTON MOWBRAY, 30th January 2024.
Round Corner Brewing have announced the new name for their Nitro Stout – Social Club, with a vision to have more people drinking it across more venues throughout the United Kingdom.
The award-winning brewery’s Nitro Stout, first launched in 2019, was previously known as Reverend Hooker, with its origin in a story of a priest who drove a cart around their hometown of Melton, ironically driving drinkers out of pubs.
However, as the beer travelled further this wonderful story became less impactful and the brewery took the chance to think hard and speak with venues about a name and a vision that matched what Round Corner Brewing wanted this beer to be.
With the Melton Mowbray brewery launching their 2024 Beer Calendar last week, they have taken the opportunity to change its name to Social Club.
Round Corner Brewing came to this name after months of internal and customer discussion. They have a deep rooted belief that beer is all about sociability and friendship, and great beer and great breweries can truly rally communities.
With a Social Club being “a group of people or the place where they meet, generally formed around a common interest or activity”, for Round Corner Brewing that interest is beer but more specifically their world class Nitro Stout.
Social club is a smooth, flavoursome and sessionable beer which is as eminently drinkable in summer as it is in winter. It’s unpretentious and Round Corner Brewing want people to come together over a pint of Social Club. Their hope is that people can easily order and enjoy these pints in an inclusive and social atmosphere, which encompass this ideal into the name as much as in the beer itself.
From Monday 29th January, the brewery will be running a campaign promoting the name change with a #JoinTheClub & #PartOfTheClub campaign slogan to promote this name change and the aim to bring people together through their love of beer and Social Club, Nitro Stout.
Round Corner Brewing’s COO and Co-Founder, Colin Paige said: “I have been brewing Nitro Stouts across the world for the last 25 years, from big brands to smaller less well-known craft nitro stouts. Social Club is the culmination of all those experiences and learnings. A style of beer I absolutely love to drink, we launched this beer in 2019 and this rebrand we believe fits the beer perfectly now, a beer all about good times with good friends.”
Round Corner Brewing’s CEO and Co-Founder, Combie Cryan said: “We are so excited about the pairing of a great, inclusive, and easy to recall name alongside this smooth, balanced, and unpretentious nitro stout. Every year we add more permanent venues and permanent fans of this great beer and so it already has solid foundations. However, we are particularly excited to see even more pints of Social Club enjoyed throughout 2024 and bringing more beer loving venues and drinkers to #JoinTheClub.”
