SOMETHING’S STIRRING DEEP IN THE WOOD

Brewers at the Wychwood Brewery have developed three new characterful brews for the off trade. Following Hobgoblin’s staggeringly successful ‘Season of Mischief’ campaign in October – Imperial Red, Black Wych and Dr Thirsty’s No. 4 Blonde are all set to join the thoroughbred beers available from the celebrated Oxfordshire brewer.

Similar to Hobgoblin, these brews not only pack a punch in terms of taste, but all three have a character at their very essence. Let us introduce the tribe who are joining the mischievous Hobgoblin on the shelves…

Imperial Red is a bold warlord who has already established himself as the leader of the nomadic warriors that inhabit the Wych Wood.  Deep ruby in colour, this character comes in peace to liberate the taste buds.  His toasted malt flavour is balanced by a pronounced hop, delivering a robust yet sweet 4.7% abv ale.

Dr Thirsty’s is ready to wreak havoc with his shamanic brew, No.4 blonde, up his sleeve to tantalise ale lovers.  This shimmering blonde is instantly refreshing with its concoction of fruits providing a lush, fragrant aroma and 4.1% abv.  No.4 blonde is the first of the good Doctor’s elixirs to appear from the depths of his apothecary.  What happened to the previous three is a mystery to us…

Black Wych has cast her spell starting with a measure of alluringly rich dark malt and allowing the bitterness to creep in.  Watch out for the caramel sweetness lurking behind.  Although silky smooth, this dark and mysterious 5% abv Porter is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Perfect for those misty evenings when the log fire is burning and there is a hearty casserole in the oven, this range of robust yet carefully developed craft ales is certain to excite experienced ale drinkers and newcomers alike.

Chris Keating, marketing manager at Wychwood Brewery, said: “These beers provide an exciting new extension to our choice of characterful ales.  With three very different flavours on offer, there is something here for every kind of ale drinker.”

Available from November 2013, this range is sold in cases of 8 x 500ml bottles.  Imperial Red and Dr Thirsty’s No.4 Blonde will be stocked in Tesco and all three beers will be available at www.classicales.co.uk.  The launch will be supported with a full social media campaign, alongside digital promotions, branded merchandise and a comprehensive trade and consumer PR campaign.
