As spring is fast approaching, Greene King – the UK’s leading cask brewer – is launching its seasonal cask ale, perfect for the lighter and brighter weather.
Making a return this year is Spring Break, the 4.4% ABV golden ale. Created in collaboration with two apprentices studying at the University of Nottingham’s brewing programme in 2022, this beer has become a firm favourite and has doubled in volume since it first launched. The cask beer has delicious aromas of peach, lychee, and tropical fruit and is bursting with flavours making it the perfect ale for springtime.
For pubs also looking to celebrate St. George’s Day, Greene King is also launching a new pump clip branded ‘George & the Flagon’, for customers to add to the bar, however the liquid of the beer will be Spring Break. Giving more reasons to visit the pub, this pump clip is a great way for guests to toast to Saint George, the patron saint of England, slaying the dragon on 23 April with a refreshing pint of cask ale.
The additional branded pump clip offers pubs the opportunity to highlight key moments in the calendar without committing to a new beer for a short period of time. Pubs can simply swap the pump clip for the duration of the celebration or for as long as they choose to, then revert to a longer use seasonal brand with Spring Break.
Spring Break cask ale and the George and the Flagon pump clip will be available to order throughout March and April.
The Fresh Cask Releases calendar continues to provide pubs with rotating styles and flavours to suit the time of year and generate excitement around key events. Greene King also offers its seasonal cask ales in pin units, 36-pint containers, as well as firkins for customer looking to order an additional seasonal cask for the bar with a lower throughput to complement the permanent range and add excitement.
Amina Ali, Brand Manager at Greene King Brewery, said: “We are proud to have worked with the National Brewing Apprenticeship Programme for a number of years and Spring Break has been one of the great successes to come out of that partnership. Spring Break is a fruity golden ale that complements the spring weather as we transition from the darker, stronger cask ales we’ve had in the winter.
“Our seasonal beers are there to support our permanent cask range, offering styles and flavours that are ideal for the time of year and also themed to celebrate special moments in pubs. We created the George & the Flagon pump clip to offer flexibility for pubs so that they can celebrate a national day but also have a beer that can be enjoyed over a longer period with interchangeable branding.”
The 2025 Fresh Cask Releases calendar includes 15 limited-edition beers available at special points throughout the year to celebrate the seasons, sporting occasions and collaborations with other brewers.
