St Austell Brewery is releasing four seasonal beers for 2024 with a special music theme.
Surfin’ USA, Summer Sun, Thunder Struck and Step Into Christmas will be familiar songs for many, but now people will be able to enjoy them in a new way – through beer. To jazz things up even further, each beer will come with its own Spotify playlist, which beer lovers can listen to by scanning a QR code on the pump clip.
Two of the beers will support coastal charities; 5p from every pint of Surfin’ USA will go towards St Austell Brewery’s charity partner, the Marine Conservation Trust, and 5p from every pint of Summer Sun will go towards the RNLI, which will celebrate its 200th anniversary of saving lives at sea this year.
Emblematic of the California sunshine, and the sounds of sea, Surfin’ USA is a tropical session IPA. It’s packed with punchy American hops; Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic to name a few that contribute the wave of soft fruit flavours.
Summer Sun, made famous by Scottish band Texas in 1999, is a pale golden beer with floral and citrus hops notes, whilst Thunderstruck – inspired by the classic ACDC song – is a full and rich English ale that serves as the perfect tipple for savouring while the darker nights draw in.
The Christmas special, Step into Christmas, will round off the year with a flavoursome stout brewed by the St Austell Brewery brewing apprentices.
Georgina Young, St Austell Brewery’s brewing director, said: “Our seasonals are a way for us to offer new, great-tasting cask beers for our wholesale customers across the UK, while having a bit of fun with the concept behind them. This time we’ve named the beers after iconic songs and created a playlist for each one that pub goers can keep on listening to long after last orders.
“We have a juicy session IPA for the spring, a fruity summer blonde ale, a warming autumnal premium ale, and a full-bodied stout as we step into the Christmas season.”
Surfin’ USA, the first beer in the lineup, will be available in select pubs across the UK from 1st March.
