Stiegl Columbus 1492 Sails Into UK

Specialist beer importer Euroboozer has further bolstered its world beer portfolio after launching Stiegl Columbus 1492 Pale Ale ahead of Craft Beer Rising.

Paying homage to Christopher Columbus who started out on his first voyage to America in 1492, the year of Stiegl’s inception, the new Austrian pale ale has already been listed on draught in the iconic Harry Gordon’s Bar at Selfridges and showcases the best of European brewing and new world hops.

Stiegl Columbus 1492 – 4.7% abv

A refreshing discovery for beer lovers – this top-fermented pale ale is given a similar amount of time in the tank to that of a lager, which results in a beer with a delicate cloudiness, elegant body, fruit-forward hoppy flavour and crisp, clean finish.  Available in 25 litre kegs and cases of 12 x 330ml bottles.

To support the launch, Euroboozer will be investing in a range of brand activation events in the next few months.  These kick off on Wednesday 21st February prior to Craft Beer Rising with a Stiegl Après Ski party at Strongroom Bar in Shoreditch with any visitor adorned in Ski Gear on the night receiving a free stein of Stiegl.

The event will also feature a Euro DJ on the decks, live music and authentic Austrian food with anyone ordering a classic Schnitzel before 8.30pm receiving a complimentary Stiegl.

The brand will then be continuing the celebrations at stands 110-113 at Craft Beer Rising running from the 22nd – 24th February.

Founder of Euroboozer, Martyn Railton comments:

“We’re delighted to extend the range of Stiegl beers available in the UK and have big expectations for this incredibly special pale ale.  Since the time of Columbus, the Stiegl brewery has been forging a reputation for producing beers of the finest quality so we excited to be unleashing their latest brew on London and the wider UK.”

About Stiegl

The Stiegl brewery grew out of what was a popular beer-making guesthouse called the ‘Bräuhaus an der Gstätten’.  It was first mentioned in written records on the 16th June 1492 and was located in Salzburg, Austria.  Over the past 500 plus years, the brewery has seen everything from immense joy and celebrations to fires, war, and economic turmoil but throughout, it has remained, playing a huge part in the city and country’s culture and history.  Even Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart guzzled a few Stiegl beers in 18th century.

Most famously known for its multi award-winning Stiegl Goldbräu beer, which launched in the UK in 2007, Stiegl utilises a wealth of brewing experience combined with some of the most high tech brewing equipment, processes and procedures in Europe whilst benefiting from the finest Austrian raw materials – often cultivated in the brewery’s own fields.

About Euroboozer

Started from the back of an old VW Vento in 2003, Euroboozer was set up by beer lover Martyn Railton, initially importing Austrian brands Hirter, Stiegl and Schremser. The company soon branched out with a deal to distribute acclaimed US craft brewer Rogue and 12 years on the VW Vento has gone to be replaced with offices and a warehouse in Hertfordshire.

The company delivers direct to London, the South-east, Bristol and also works with a close network of sub-distributors around the UK.   While much has changed since the company was started, Martyn and the company’s passion for finding, building and distributing a unique range of speciality beers where quality is king remains the same.
