The story behind ‘Chief Jester’

Community and the environment have always been our driving forces when developing and growing Farr Brew. Over the past year we have supported schools, local community projects and charities wherever possible. (For example, our recent Hop Collective sought to reduce our carbon footprint whilst engaging the local community in an endeavour which sees our members growing hops which will be made into the very beer they drink).

Several years ago, a very close friend (Joe ‘Chief’ Paul) passed away at a very young age. He was a chap who always went the extra mile in working for local charities and caring for those near and dear to him. We want to use Farr Brew to continue his work supporting local hospices and celebrate his good name.

The Beer and charity combining for a great cause:

‘Chief Jester’ is the latest addition to our core beer range. It has been created using an exciting new strain of hops called ‘Jester’ which has an intense, punchy aroma of new world proportions, with flavour notes of grapefruit and tropical fruits. Combined with WGV bittering hops and carefully selected grains, we have created an easy drinking 3.6% pale session ale that is tasty and refreshing in equal measure.

Farr Brew will be donating 10% of all profits made from sales of ‘Chief Jester’ to the Rennie Grove Hospice. Joe was an amazing person and a true lover of good beer. We’re sure he would be pleased with what we have created. The pump clip and branding has been designed to celebrate his interests and passions.

Rennie Grove Hospice Care is a charity providing care and support for adults and children diagnosed with cancer and other life-limiting illness and their families. Every year through their 24/7 Hospice at Home service, their Family Support services and the range of Day Services at Grove House they give thousands of patients the choice to stay at home, surrounded by their families and friends.

The Launch Party

Due to our close relationship with the multi award winning ‘Ye Olde Fighting Cocks’ in St Albans, we have decided to announce our new ale with a launch party at the pub on the 11th May at 8pm. We would be delighted if you or a representative from your organisation could attend for a few free pints of Chief Jester. We hope that any publicity you can provide will assist the Rennie Grove in gaining much needed funds for an excellent organisation, along with celebrating the life of one of our friends.
