Sustainable ale – Brixton Brewery teams up with Oddbox to create citrus pale ale

Brixton Brewery is raising its sustainability focus by teaming up with Oddbox, a delivery service that rescues ‘unconventional’ fruit and vegetables that are at risk of otherwise going to waste. Oddhops Rescued Citrus Pale Ale (4.8%) will be available from April in aid of Stop Food Waste Day (27th April), with all proceeds being donated to food waste charities. The brew contains the juice and zest from oranges, mandarins, and limes to create a citrusy-fresh pale ale with a light, hoppy bitterness.

Xochitl Benjamin, Co-Founder of Brixton Brewery, comments, “We love everything about what Oddbox does to reduce food waste, so it was fantastic to be able to work with them to rescue some citrus fruit and put it to good use for Stop Food Waste Day. The brewery smelled incredible from all those fresh oranges and we’re happy that the proceeds from the beer will go to a good cause.”

Carrie Mash , Partnerships Marketing Manager at Oddbox, comments, “We’re always looking for new ways to expand our food-waste fighting mission, so we were super excited about the opportunity to create a beer in collaboration with Brixton Brewery made with rescued fruit. It’s a great way to make more people aware of the problem of food waste, as well as giving our growers another market for the “too odd” and “too many.””
