Take a Look Inside New Braintree Pub Following Almost £300,000 Makeover

The Eagle in Braintree reopened on 19th December following a transformational investment of almost £300,000. The pub is part of Proper Pubs – the award-winning community wet-led operator division of Admiral Taverns – which operates more than 200 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.

Will Farrell, Operator at The Eagle said: “The pub has undergone a complete internal and external transformation to refresh its overall look and feel just in time for locals to enjoy over Christmas!

Inside, The Eagle is divided into two main areas – the bar and games zone – both of which have been revitalised to create a vibrant social hub for all guests, especially sports fans, to enjoy. Outside, the pub features a newly renovated beer garden complete with covered booths so it can be utilised throughout the year.”

To celebrate the reopening on Thursday 19th December, The Eagle hosted a live performance from Leighon-Sea singer, Sam Sheridan, to welcome the community back. The entertainment will continue on throughout the weekend with karaoke on Friday evening followed by a DJ set.

The Eagle offers a wide range of drinks offers, including Wine Wednesday, where customers can get £2 off a bottle, Fizz Friday, offering customers a bottle of fizz for £10, along with cocktails, bottle and shot deals throughout the week.

Will added: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Proper Pubs and the incredible team at The Eagle for their invaluable support in helping to bring this vision to life as well as the local community for all their encouragement throughout this journey.”

On top of the fantastic drinks selection, The Eagle hosts several flat screen televisions – complete with Sky and TNT Sports – to ensure there’s always something on for sports lovers to watch. In addition, the pub runs a busy schedule of entertainment including regular quizzes and live music to further bring the community together.

Matthew Gurney, Operations Director for Proper Pubs, said: “The Eagle looks amazing, and I am incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication the entire team has put in to ensure the pub is ready to welcome back its customers just in time for the festive period.

I want to wish Will and the whole team the very best of luck as they work to establish The Eagle as the goto community social hub. Here’s to continued success and growth!”

Proper Pubs is always looking for ways to support its communities through an annual schedule of events and fundraising initiatives. In March, it was crowned Community Pub Operator at the Publican Awards, and more recently raised nearly £100,000 in just three months for various local charities across the UK. In September 2024, the Group successfully donated enough food to local foodbanks across the UK to feed 1,300 people for a week and has also been recognised for its UK-wide defibrillator installation campaign which has already saved 11 lives.

This year, operators across Proper Pubs’ estate successfully collected 16,000 advent calendars to donate to local charities and communities in need and have also been encouraging their customers to write Christmas cards to those who will be experiencing loneliness this Christmas.
