Take a sip of the South West at The Queens Arms’ Beer Festival

From pale ales and porters to blondes and bitters, The Queens Arms will be celebrating the very best craft beers that the South West has to offer at its Beer Festival on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 July. Held at the award-winning pub in Corton Denham, Somerset, ale enthusiasts will have over a dozen barrels to choose from, as they enjoy a summer’s afternoon of beer, gourmet burgers and bands.

Armed with The Queens Arms’ trademark festival pint glasses, showing measures for a third, a half and a full pint respectively, those attending will have the opportunity to sample hand-picked Bristol beers including Moor Beer Company’s PMA, Left Handed Giant’s Pale and Arbor’s Oz Bomb, as well as more local tipples, such as Wriggle Valley Brewery’s Copper Hoppa, brewed just up the road in Sherborne. The Queens Arms’ own collaboration with Gyle 59, Legless Liz, will be offering visitors an authentic sip of the Somerset countryside, while cider, wines and soft drinks will also be available.

The Queens Arms’ barbeque will be stoked throughout the weekend, serving up Dirty Dogs (spicy hot dogs), homemade burgers, BBQ grilled cheese sandwiches and BBQ pulled brisket burgers, all coming with homemade slaw and salad from the pub’s own kitchen garden. The music line-up boasts local artists such as Nick Tatham, Tom Clements and Jaz Devonshire, and with family-friendly activities including quoits and giant board games on offer during both days, all are welcome to eat, drink and be merry at this idyllic spot in the Somerset countryside. Visitors will also be able to purchase one of The Queens Arms’ trademark festival pint glasses and a three-pint takeaway container for £10.

The Queens Arms’ Beer Festival will take place on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 July from midday until 6pm. The full list of beers on sale includes:

Notes to editor

Nestled within the glorious rural setting of the Dorset and Somerset borders, The Queens Arms in Corton Denham is an award-winning destination pub offering the finest local and seasonal produce, along with plenty of character and rustic charm. With eight elegant rooms complete with stunning countryside views, as well as two new holiday hideaways in a converted piggery barn, this quintessentially English Georgian Inn celebrates the very best that the local area has to offer, measuring its food in metres, not miles.

Owners Gordon and Jeanette Reid have earned two AA Rosettes during their seven years in Corton Denham, along with accolades ranging from numerous Taste of the West awards to CAMRA’s Cider Pub of the Year. During their time at the helm, Gordon and Jeanette have also established a smallholding of pigs, cows and hens to provide an abundance of meat, eggs and milk for their diners to enjoy, along with the outstanding seasonal produce coming from the pub’s very own kitchen garden.
