It’s been a festive favourite for over a decade, and this year Shepherd Neame’s Christmas Ale is looking better than ever.
Britain’s oldest brewer, based in the market town of Faversham, Kent, has just unveiled a new limited edition presentation box for this year’s vintage of the full-bodied winter beer (7.0% ABV). Each festive red gift box includes a 500ml bottle of Christmas Ale decorated with a vintage, Dickensian-style label, which also features on the box design.
Marketing Manager Louise Buet said: “We first launched Christmas Ale back in 2007, and it has always been a popular gift, so this year we decided to introduce new packaging to reflect that. We hope that it will encourage even more people to share this unique winter beer.”
Christmas Ale is brewed using 100% natural ingredients; chalk-filtered mineral water from the artesian well deep below Shepherd Neame’s site, along with the finest malting barley and Kentish hops. Featuring a warming combination of fruits and spices, it combines pale and crystal malts with Target and Challenger hops for bitterness, and Goldings hops for aroma.
Head Brewer Mike Unsworth said: “Christmas Ale is one of our favourite traditions, a full-bodied, complex beer with hints of spice and mulled fruits. We are very proud of this glowing amber winter beer with a heady, fruity nose. It is perfect for long winter nights, especially in front of a roaring fire.”
