The Sportsman at Seasalter has retained its Michelin star, it has been announced today.
The Shepherd Neame-owned pub, run by brothers Stephen and Phil Harris, has retained its sought-after star since 2008.
The pub’s inclusion in this year’s Michelin Great Britain & Ireland Guide, which recommends restaurants and pubs for the quality of their food and for those offering particularly good value, was announced this morning.
The Guide praised its “comfortingly relaxed, traditional feel” and said: “The Sportsman’s reputation brings diners from across the country to this windswept spot by the sea wall.”
It said of Head Chef Stephen Harris’ menu: “Cooking is assured and satisfying, with seamless flavor combinations, and the wonderfully fresh fish really is a highlight.”
It also praised the locally-sourced produce, including from the adjacent marshland, for the micro-seasonal menu, adding: “High quality cooking, worth a stop!”
Last month the pub also took sixth place in the Estrella Damm Top 10 Best Gastropubs.
