The traditional pub sign gets a makeover with Beavertown Brewery

29th September 2020 – 2020 has been a tough year for the pubs and Beavertown Brewery has decided to show them some love with the creation of four live murals, taking place at The Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich, The Ninth Life in Catford, The Windmill in Clapham and the Old George in Bethnal Green, on the weekend of October 3rd. Each of the murals has been designed by Beavertown’s Nick Dwyer and will re-imagine the pubs’ signs, taking inspiration from their history, locals and pride of place in their local communities.

Responsible for the eye-catching brightly coloured spaceman designs that have helped to make Beavertown beers a hit, Nick has channelled Beavertown creativity into the murals and will be there on the day to tell you more about the inspiration behind his designs. As well as getting the chance to meet Nick, beer fans will be invited to take part in workshops where you’ll get to practice the techniques being used to create the murals.

On Saturday 3rd October, the brewery will be at Bethnal Green’s The Old George and the Ninth Life in Catford. On Sunday 4th October, Beavertown will be at The Trafalgar Tavern and The Windmill. Otherwise known as ‘The Jewel of the Thames’, The Trafalgar Tavern is the UK’s biggest pub and dates back to 1837.

Beavertown Brewery Creative Director, Nick Dwyer said, “Creativity and pubs are two things that have always been part of our DNA at Beavertown and the challenge of bringing them together in a way we haven’t done before was really exciting. Pubs are more than just a place to grab a pint, they have great histories and bring us together. My murals hopefully capture that, as well as some of the Beavertown illustrations our fans know us for.”

Over the coming months, Beavertown Brewery will launch a series of activations that inject the creativity at the heart of Beavertown beer into our pubs. Look out for State of Beavertown updates at https://www.beavertownbrewery.co.uk/ to keep up to date with the latest news.

About Beavertown

Beavertown is dedicated to crafting high quality, innovative beers like Gamma Ray APA or Neck Oil SIPA that appeal to the thirsty masses, as well as more experimental brews from our Tempus Project. From brewing to branding, we believe in creativity in everything we do.

  • At Beavertown, we believe beer is more than just a beer, it’s an experience; which is why we host a weekly Saturday taproom to give people the chance to taste our carefully crafted beer in its natural habitat, our own Tottenham brewery
  • Now eight years old, Beavertown began life on a 650L kit in a BBQ joint in Haggerston. The brewery in Tottenham Hale produces 5500L batches (or 9,000,000 pints a year) and our new home in Enfield – Beaverworld – will allow Beavertown to produce ten times this, a staggering 90,000,000 pints a year.
  • The official craft beer of Tottenham Hotspur F.C., you can enjoy a crisp pint of your favourite Beavertown brew in our new taproom and microbrewery inside the stadium – the first of its kind
  • Winner of 2 gold medals at the International Beer Challenge for core range beers Gamma Ray & Neck Oil
