1929 ale recipe undergoes modern faceliftNorfolk-based brewery Woodforde’s has evolved the packaging of one of its limited edition bottled beers in an attempt to widen its appeal with new audiences.Norfolk NIP, based on an original Steward & Patteson recipe from 1929, has been released in a new 375ml bottle complete with a refreshed label and a gently modified recipe, bringing the ABV to 7% from its original 8%.The recipe for NIP was exclusively handed over to Woodforde’s, and since then the Norfolk brewery has taken time to sympathetically evolve the beer and its packaging to keep it relevant in a changing real ale market.Rupert Farquharson, managing director for Woodforde’s comments:“Norfolk NIP is regarded as an absolute classic but making it relevant to modern-day drinkers was the key. The revitalised label has enabled us to move the look and feel forward whilst staying true to the traditional elements of this historic recipe. We hope that this will encourage its popularity amongst the younger ale drinkers as well as its existing fans.”The limited edition beer has been brewed using the highest quality ingredients including Maris Otter barley which is grown and malted on Woodforde’s doorstep in Norfolk.Norfolk NIP is rich in dark malt with hints of liquorice, rich fruit and warming alcohol. It is available to buy at the Woodforde’s brewery shop in Woodbastwick and online, while stocks last. For more information about Woodforde’s visit www.woodfordes.co.uk~ ENDS ~Image:The limited release beer, Norfolk NIP.About Woodforde’sWoodforde’s Norfolk Ales is a craft brewery based at Woodbastwick, producing a range of cask and bottled beers, winning the SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) Business Award for its Ale Trail and a finalist in the Eastern Daily Press’ Food and Farming Excellence awards.
