Toast Ale Takeover at The Other Palace

To celebrate Nigel Slater’s Toast, a new play based on his autobiography, The Other Palace, Victoria’s favourite neighbourhood theatre, is holding monthly brewery takeovers in their ground floor bar area with Toast Ale. These will be running on Thursday 13th June, 11th July

Pairing up with the award-winning brewers, who produce craft beer made from surplus fresh bakery bread, the monthly bar takeovers will comprise of a full range of the excellent Toast Ale beers in a creative setting.

Did you know 44% of the bread produced in the UK is never consumed? We waste almost 900,000 tonnes of bread every year – around 24 million slices every day. On the night, a representative from the brewery will be telling facts like these and more, giving a little talk on the brewing process and how they are working to combat food waste in the UK.

The four beers available on the night will be:

– Toast Purebread Pale Ale 5%

– Toast Bloomin’ Lovely Session IPA 4.5%

– Toast Much Kneaded Craft Lager 5%

– Toast Born and Bred American Pale Ale 5%

Guests can choose to grab a quick brew ahead of show times (and in the interval!) or settle in for the evening, trying the four Toast beers and enjoying the bar area. It’s an opportunity to do your bit to battle food waste!

The Other Palace’s Toast Ale takeovers will continue throughout June and July, taking place on the second Thursday of the month. Free entry on the night. For more information see: https://lwtheatres.co.uk/toast-takeovers-at-the-otherpalace/

Notes to Editors

The Other Palace

The Other Palace was acquired by LW Theatres, (the venue was formerly known as the St James Theatre, but was renamed to reflect its proximity to Buckingham Palace) in 2016 and after a short refurbishment re-opened its doors in February 2017 in its current iteration as the home of musical theatre in London.

Taking its own special position within the LW Theatres family, The Other Palace is a space which showcases the best of London’s new theatre as well as fostering up-and-coming writers and performers.

The ground floor of the building is occupied by an award-winning bar and lounge serving coffee, light bites, bar snacks, cocktails, and an extensive range of more than 50 brands of gin, including the Theatre’s own gin: The Other Gin.

With an enviable selection of fine wines from around the world, champagne and beers (including own label The Other Lager), the bar area continues the theatre’s commitment to creativity and collaboration, with show-inspired offerings and a frequently changing menu.

The Other Palace’s membership scheme, Friends of The Other Palace, entitles members to a host of privileges and benefits, including advance notification and priority booking, discounts in venue, and VIP access. To find out more, please visit TheOtherPalace.co.uk/Membership.

The Other Palace is located on Palace Street, in the midst of busy Victoria, and is within easy walking distance of both Victoria and St James’s Park tube stations.

Toast Ale

Toast Ale brews craft beer that’s better for the planet. 44% of all of bread produced in the UK is never eaten so Toast is on a mission to change this. They use fresh, surplus bakery bread in place of a proportion of the malted barley, and pour all profits into environmental charities working for a healthier food system.

Toast Ale is a certified B Corp, using business as a force for good. The core range of beers are available nationally, including listings at Tesco and Waitrose, so drinkers all over the country can come together to do their bit for the planet over a beer with friends.
