TRUMAN’S BREWERY MAKES HISTORIC MOVE BACK INTO UK PUB SCENE

The Truman’s revival, which started in 2010, today sees one of London’s most exciting independent craft brewers opening its first Tap House in the city. The brewery has taken London treasure, The Newman Arms in Fitzrovia – a favoured haunt of Dylan Thomas and George Orwell – and officially opens its doors on May 16th, 2017.

Truman’s have expanded the pub into the basement and increased the number of draught lines to offer customers a range of beers from brewers far and wide. Truman’s will run tasting evenings and beer training at the pub which will act as its West London Flagship.

Truman’s Managing Director James Morgan says: “The greatest satisfaction comes from serving amazing beers and seeing drinkers enjoy them – that’s exactly what we’ll be doing all day every day at the Newman Arms. It’s a dream come true to bring back to life such a well-loved pub. Yet again we’re reviving a London institution; it’s becoming a habit! We’re bringing the best of East End craft brewing to the West End and beyond. Look out for our imminent announcement about Tap House No.2………”

Showcasing the best of British, the wine selection will have a focus on quality English wines, whilst the spirits will be selected from independent London distillers. Paying tribute to The Newman’s former and longest serving publican, Tracey Bird, and her reputation for home-made pies, the brewery will re-establish the pub as a pie connoisseur’s mecca. In July this year, Truman’s will host a street party outside The Newman celebrating bring great pies and pints back to this establishment.

The Newman Arms will be one of the first pubs in London to install a fully functioning ‘crowler machine’. The machine will fill 910ml cans with any draft beer on site for customers to take away.  Delivery options for homes and businesses will be available to keep the local community in pints and pies.

Whilst the pub has undergone various guises in its 100 year plus history, the interiors will still embrace a traditional pub feel.  The upstairs will remain the celebrated pie room, with two new snugs located in the basement available for private hire.

Truman’s have developed a multi award winning range of craft beers brewed on site by their team, led by James Rabagliati and Charlotte Cook. Their cask selection includes Runner – Best Bitter, Swift – Golden Ale, Zephyr Pacific Pale and Lazarus Very Pale Ale whilst in keg Truman’s has RAW Lager, Roller IPA, Truman’s Pale Ale and Bow Bells Citrus Pale Ale.
