The first global drinks competition dedicated to non-alcoholic products – the World Alcohol-Free Awards – is open for entries. But prospective medal-winners will need to move fast, with entries closing on February 6th.
The Awards is completely focused on drinks at or below 0.5% ABV, and is judged by category specialists and alcohol-free experts. Tasters are flying into the UK from Europe, the Middle East and the US to take part. Entry is through the website, www.worldafawards.com.
‘Beer has been right at the forefront of the alcohol-free explosion, and we can see that there are a lot of really great examples out there,’ said Head of Judging, Chrissie Parkinson. ‘So if you make one, this is your chance to let it shine by having it judged by experts who really understand the category.’
Judging will take place in early March and the medals announced in April. Trophy contenders will be on display within the burgeoning Low and No Pavilion at the London Wine Fair, with the trophy winners revealed in a virtual ceremony in early June.
A consumer event, run through the mindful-drinking group, Club Soda, will take place in the summer, showing off some of the best performing entries.
Chris Losh, director and co-founder of the World Alcohol-Free Awards said:
‘We all know there’s a huge growth in interest in alcohol-free products, and that’s lead to a real thirst for knowledge. People are desperate for recommendations on what to try – and that’s where our competition comes in.’
