Utopian Brewing takes home treble Gold and one Silver at the 2022 World Beer Country Awards

At the 2022 World Beer Awards, young Devon based brewery, Utopian Brewing swept the board with 4 medals in the Country awards. This is the ultimate seal of approval in the beer industry as competition is fierce with Utopian competing against some of the largest, well
known beer brands in the industry.

Country gold medals were awarded to the brands signature Premium British lager, their British Keller Pilsner and their Doppelbeck Strong lager. A silver was awarded to their Ten Degrees Czechia session larger.

Utopian Brewing is very quickly establishing itself as a brand that’s driving real innovation into its brewing processes. Their use of young British hops with interesting flavours hasn’t gone unnoticed, but more importantly, it’s their ability to take influence from the Bavarian and Czech brewing styles , whilst only using 100% British grown ingredients. The 4 award winning lagers are a typical example of how these classical techniques have been so successful for the brand.

Utopian Brewing’s three country winners now go through to the prestigious World’s Best category for their respective styles, competing with the other country winners from across the globe. This is one of the highest accolades in the industry, judged by an international panel of beer experts, and would further cement the brands position as a brewer of exceptional quality beers and as a strong new player in the UK beer market.

Managing Director, Richard Archer commented “We are absolutely delighted with this recent news. Everyone knows what a challenging and competitive industry this is with so many high quality brewers out there, so for us to be recognised four times is an amazing result. We have an incredibly hard-working team and especially our head brewer Jeremy Swainson, who continues to work tirelessly on developing the most stunning beers. We’re also pleased to be in the running three times for a World’s Best category. Any recognition on the world stage would be incredible and a truly outstanding achievement for our little brewery.”

About Utopian Brewing

Utopian Brewing is a premium alcoholic drinks brand, dedicated to brewing high-quality, environmentally sustainable lagers. The brand established itself 4 years ago in 10,000 square feet of former farm buildings in picturesque mid Devon and interprets classic styles of brewing using only 100% British grown ingredients. All Utopian’s lagers are naturally brewed using only the highest quality, ingredients, no additives and no compromise. All their lagers are cold conditioned for a minimum of 28 days and many for much longer.

With strong sustainability credentials and a long-term ambition to become carbon neutral, The brewhouse itself is lit by movement-sensing LED lighting, a large heat exchanger recovers 80% of the heat from the previous brew for the next, and Devon’s soft water means there is no need to treat the water used in the brewing process. The brewery uses only FSC cardboard in its packaging and does not use single-use plastic. Lager fans can find Utopian lagers across the UK in selected pubs, restaurants, bottle shops, food halls, independent retailers and via Utopian’s online store.
