Vice-chairman appointment for SIBA

The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) has appointed Nigel Sadler as its vice-chairman, in a move that reflects the growing stature of the organisation and its increasingly robust political campaigning.

Sadler is Operations & Commercial Manager at Wibblers Brewery based in Mayland, Essex and he owns and runs Learn2brew Ltd, a craft brewing school. He has been a SIBA trustee, representing the organisation’s East region, since 2010 and was elected as vice-chairman at the most recent SIBA Council, held in February this year.

Chairman Keith Bott said, “Nigel has been an enthusiastic trustee with an evident and engaging passion for beer and brewing.  I am delighted to have him working alongside me as vice-chairman and am confident that it will enable us to raise further SIBA’s profile and ensure that the voice of the craft brewing sector is heard loud and clear by Government and other policymakers.”

A relative newcomer to the brewing industry, Nigel has spent many years in the City as director of commodity trading companies and in the money markets. He started studying brewing some 27 years ago and joined the industry full time in 2009. Sadler has brewed a number of award-winning beers and he recently became one of the UK’s first four Beer Sommeliers, accredited by the Beer Academy.

The vice-chairman position was vacant until Sadler’s appointment, though it has been filled at other points in SIBA’s 32-year history.
