The Wadworth Visitor Centre, brewery museum and tours has this year maintained the Visit England ‘Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme’ Award and managed to increase its score by 2% to a whopping 92%.
The report highlighted that “Wadworth remains one of the country’s leading brewery tours and the Visitor Centre is well known as a very successful smaller attraction in the Wessex region. There are high standards evident at every stage in the visitor journey. It is therefore no surprise the staff team are passionate about quality and standards, are always looking for ways to do things differently and better, are committed to consistent on-going quality improvement, and that they have won a range of tourism awards in recent years”.
Speaking about the result, CEO for Wadworth, Chris Welham said, “We are incredibly proud of this recognition by Visit England. To have increased our score is a real achievement and great testament to the team who conduct our tours. I know from first-hand experience how good the Wadworth Brewery tour is and how hard the team work to make this so informative and enjoyable for our guests. We are looking forward to welcoming even more visitors in 2019”.
The Visitor Centre last year saw over 17000 people visiting the brewery with brewery tours up 3.7% on 2017 and sales in the shop up 9.7%. By taking a tour visitors get to see the beer being brewed, brewery’s own shire horses, Max, Sam and Archie as well as the pubs signs being hand painted by their sign shop artists. The team are now waiting to see if they are successful in receiving two further awards: Visit England Welcome Accolade and Hidden Gem Accolade.

About Wadworth
Wadworth is a regional pub operator and family brewer, with over 200 pubs across the South West of Britain. Founded by Henry A Wadworth, the business passed to his founding partner John Smith Bartholomew and is now in the fourth generation of management by the Bartholomew family. Wadworth has brewed beer at its Victorian brewery in Devizes, Wiltshire, since 1875, and is one of the few remaining family brewers to deliver to the local area using shire horses. The estate is split between tenanted and managed pubs and Wadworth works hard to ensure that its pubs offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere, excellent quality food and drink including its sought after brand 6X.
