We’re opening our taproom!

On Saturday the 12th of August we will be opening the taproom doors to the public. This has been a long time in the planning and we’re incredibly excited to welcome people in to enjoy our beer in a taproom unlike any other in Manchester.

After moving into Unit 10 on Sheffield Street last December, we’ve been busy brewing and filling barrels as well as putting things in place for the taproom. We’ve enlisted the design and fit out expertise of On The Brink Studio based in Stockport to put together a welcoming space with inspiration from traditional, cosy pubs and Belgian beer bars. It’ll be finished with clean lines, white oak and modern finesse against a wonderful backdrop of slumbering barrels.

We’ll be opening every Saturday from 12-10pm for the rest of this year with the occasional special event during the week. As the only brewery in Manchester specialising in barrel fermented, mixed culture beers, we’re in a great position to be able to showcase our own products and to bring you the best beers in this style from the rest of the UK. Our tap list will be made up entirely of mixed fermentation wild ales with a fairly small but carefully selected range of beers from some of the best mixed fermentation and spontaneous breweries in the country. We have chosen to keep the menu focused on British produce with a small but thoughtful selection of wines, natural of course, as well as pale and lager offerings from our favourite British breweries.

With the capacity for up to 80 people in the taproom, we want to build a community of passionate and friendly people with a focus on savouring the moment and enjoying beers in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

About Balance

Balance Brewing & Blending was founded in Manchester in 2021. We are the only brewery in Manchester producing exclusively barrel aged, mixed fermentation beers. Our beers take time; each one spending the best part of a year in barrel before being blended, often onto hops or fruit. The factor of time, alongside our house culture of wild yeast and bacteria, results in complex yet balanced beers. We have a focus on locally sourced ingredients and we only use British produce. All of our beers are vegan.
