As Christmas is fast approaching our thoughts are firmly on 2024 and our Beer Release Calendar. Check out the link below to see what we have planned as we start to blur the style guidelines, focus on ‘continental pales’ and see the return of one of our most sort after beers ever…. it’s got beetroot in it.
Let’s eat pies and talk about men’s mental health
~ RELEASED January, Wednesday 3rd, 2024 ~
As the festive period draws to a close, many individuals can feel very isolated, depressed and even suicidal. So, the first week in January see’s the annual release of our ‘Let’s eat pies and talk about men’s mental health’ beer to raise awareness of the amazing work Men’s Pie Club do to tackle social isolation, prevent suicides and reduce the stigma surrounding men’s mental health.
The beer is a very approachable, 3.4% cask only hazy IPA. Expect a glowing light orange hazy pint, a great pillowy body and a massive aroma from big hop additions of Chinook, Mosaic and Galaxy.
El Capitan ~ West Coast IPA
El Capitan is our cherished, seasonal West Coast IPA, the perfect autumnal pint. It brings that typically big hop aroma, pineyness and bitterness you know and love, but also a great comfort in its malt character and strength. Using only the finest malts available, Golden Promise and Premium English Caramalt from Simpsons Malt, and an array of industry leading hop products from BarthHaasX (Simcoe T90, Amarillo BBC, Centennial BBC, Cascade T90, Chinook Incognito) El Capitan delivers a reassuring level of flavour, aroma and character.
Established back in 2016 by Daniel and Gemma McColl, McColl’s Brewery was created to bring their North East warmth, a love of easy drinking beers and their passion for open and welcoming hospitality to being. To be involved in all aspects of a product, from its creation right through to its dispense and see the joy it can bring, is a special and fortunate position that makes us tick.
We love where we are from, the North East, and we are really proud to have the brewery and taproom situated within the small working class village community of Evenwood, near Bishop Auckland, County Durham.
The brewery, which houses our 32 hectolitre brewhouse (capable of making over 6000 pints per batch) produces a wide variety of easy drinking craft beers. From initial concept to final packaging and then on to service we take great care to make sure our beers make their way to you in the best possible condition, full of flavour, taste, aroma and body – as we fully intend.
