THE WINE HARVEST SECURES FIRST SPONSOR – CURIOUS BREWERY!

Curious Brewery, one of the country’s fastest-growing premium beer brands announces it will be the first-ever sponsor of the wine harvest. The sponsorship covers many of the UK’s leading vineyards and one in France meaning the Kent-based beer brand is part-sponsoring the French wine harvest!

This summer’s grape harvest is set to be the biggest in the country’s history thanks to the long hot summer which has produced near-perfect growing conditions.  Winemakers are confident of a bumper year and perhaps a crop bigger than 2014, when 6.3 million bottles of wine were produced.

Curious’ sponsorship will see grape-pickers in Britain’s leading vineyards receive thousands of bottles of the premium English lager’s flagship Curious Brew during picking season, currently scheduled to begin in the third week of September.

The full list of vineyards to receive sponsorship is: Chapel Down, Squerryes, Hattingley Valley, Hush Heath, Hambledon, Ridgeview, Simpsons & Sainte Rose.

Curious Brew will also be fuelling the picking force at the hops harvest, as Hukins Hops will also be welcoming Curious Brew through its gates to its hops pickers.

Julia Trustram Eve, Marketing Director for Wines of Great Britain, said, “Harvest is an exciting and the busiest time for all the vineyards across the country, when the harvesting and winemaking teams work closely together and around the clock to bring in precious grapes and create the delicious flavours and aromas that we will be enjoying in the wines for years to come. This year vineyards are particularly excited after what has been a great growing season in 2018. There is a common saying in wine regions around the world that, ‘it takes a lot of beer to make wine!’”

Curious Brewery Managing Director, Gareth Bath, said “The best way grape-pickers in Britain can slake their thirst this harvest is with England’s very finest premium lager.  Long hot harvesting days refreshed the way we’ve been doing in England for centuries – with the finest locally produced beer.  Curious Brew uses Bacchus wine yeast, which echoes the notes of some of the country’s finest wines, hence our thrill at becoming the first sponsor of the wine harvest.”

Head Winemaker at Chapel Down, Josh Donaghay-Spire said “Every year British winemakers welcome a highly dedicated team of pickers to harvest our crops; they are a vital extension of the team here and are absolutely crucial for the quality of the harvest.

“We are delighted to be able to ensure the thirst of all the pickers of Britain is quenched with Curious Brew and that they are able to enjoy the ‘fruits’ of last year’s labour whilst ensuring that next year’s crop is in good hands.”
