Zerodegrees launch Summer’s Brewing campaign in Blackheath

July 2017 –  Zerodegrees, South East London’s original local brewery and restaurant, has launched Summer’s Brewing at Blackheath – a celebration of long hot days, cold fresh beers and al-fresco good times.

The whole summer will be a rolling beer festival with Zerodegrees’ core range of 6 fresh, unfiltered and vegan-friendly beers augmented by monthly small-batch special brews. These specials are a chance for Zerodegrees’ brew masters to create exciting new beers every month and when they’re gone, they’re gone. The summer line-up includes a light & fruity Watermelon Kölsch (5.2 ABV) and a spicy, smoky BBQ India Red Lager (4.8 ABV).

David Mellinas, born in Spain but now the Brewmaster of Blackheath, says: “I’ve had a great time coming up with new flavour combinations, there’s so much we can do! Brewing fresh and on-site means that the beers we make here come straight to you with no messing around in between. It also gives me a chance to match beers to the menu too – fantastic for summer beer pairing”.

Summer’s Brewing will include a festival like line-up: happy hours, Thursday 2-4-1 cocktails, Friday live bands, weekend brewery tours and a packed Summer menu with favourites such as Moules Mariniere and Cajun King Prawns, all to be enjoyed on Blackheath’s outside terrace overlooking Greenwich Park. Not to mention an exclusive offer of 5 litre mini-kegs of Zerodegrees core range for only £15!

The fun continues on social media too with brewing ideas and weekly competitions to win 9-pint minikegs of fresh beer, bottles of prosecco and meals for 2.

Zerodegrees Breweries and Beer Each of Zerodegrees restaurants is home to its own microbrewery. The entire brewing process takes place on site overseen by an attendant brew master who is responsible for the day-to-day operations brewing Zerodegrees five regular beers along with a series of limited edition specialty craft beers.

All Zerodegrees beers are always free from preservatives and additives. The team are committed to producing ‘fresh’ craft beer, which means that the brews are unpasteurised and unfiltered. It’s been a part of the DNA of Zerodegrees from the beginning. Within the restaurants the beer comes direct from the serving tanks meaning only the freshest beer is served. The current range of permanent beers includes a Pilsner, the first beer Zerodegrees brewed, Pale Ale, Wheat Lager, Black Lager and a very popular Mango Beer which started life as a limited edition batch but proved to be such a hit that it has for many years been a permanent brew. Over the years, Zerodegrees beers have received plentiful recognition and won awards from various industry bodies including CAMRA.

15 Years of Zerodegrees Dipam Patel and Nick Desai, opened the first site together in Blackheath in 2000. They were amongst a handful of fresh beer breweries when craft beer and microbreweries were still a minor concern within the industry. Dip with his passion for freshly brewed beer and Nick, with a love for wood fired pizza coupled with his experience of running a chain of Pizza Express franchise sites with his father, joined forces to create what is now a wholly family run business that’s been growing steadily ever since.
