Abbeydale Beerworks – the new Taproom from Abbeydale Brewery, opening May 2026

Sheffield based Abbeydale Brewery, the UK’s first 100% employee owned brewery, has this week announced the opening date for Abbeydale Beerworks, their new taproom based on Abbeydale Road, just a stone’s throw from the brewery itself. The taproom is due to open to the public on Thursday 7th May from 4pm, and be open six days per week.
Abbeydale Beerworks will act as a showcase venue for Abbeydale’s latest brews and small batch specials, with an extensive cellar refit allowing 8 keg lines and 4 casks. The brewery team also plan to host exclusive tastings in the space, as well as community focused events such as a running club, opportunity to host local craft classes, and a “forage to funk” scheme aimed at making use of surplus and foraged produce in the brewery’s mixed fermentation project.
This news comes as the brewery are celebrating their 30th anniversary year. Co-Managing Director Dan Baxter says of the opening “it feels like our own taproom has been a long time coming, and we’re incredibly excited to finally be able to share it with our community – it feels like a pivotal moment for our team. We can’t wait to play a new part in the neighbourhood that already means so much to us and that we’ve called home for thirty years.”

Who are Abbeydale Brewery?
An independent brewery established in 1996 and employee owned since 2024, Abbeydale has continually grown steadily and now makes up to 500HL of beer per week and employs over 25 members of staff. Abbeydale are well known for producing a huge range of beers (in particular their flagship pale ale, Moonshine), blending innovation with heritage and reflecting these values across their wide range of beers. The brewery also operates the Rising Sun community pub in Nether Green, and is soon to open a second venue – Abbeydale Beerworks Taproom.
