Tim Hickford

Tim is a beer industry professional & advocate. His passion is to make other people as excited by great beer and pubs as he is.

Tim was born in south London, but predominantly raised in Hertfordshire. He studied fine art at Reading University but found his true passion by working in pubs and bars, whilst he studied.

After graduating in 2012, Tim interned at Longdog brewery, for a year, as a brewery assistant. A year later he moved back to Hertfordshire and started working for Mad Squirrel brewery, where he worked for the next seven years in a variety of roles. In 2015, he qualified as a Beer Sommelier, through the Institute of Brewing and Distilling, at the time he was one of the youngest beer sommeliers in the country.

In 2020 Tim left Mad Squirrel, to join Wells & Co (previously Charles Wells) to work at Brewpoint, their new brewery, based in Bedford. He continues to work at Brewpoint today as part of the sales, brand & marketing team.

In his career Tim has worked in a variety of roles, from on & off trade management, sales, marketing, e-commerce, training & communications. He has lead in excess of 1000 brewery tours, talks and beer tastings in the last decade.

Tim was accepted as a full member of The British Guild of Beer Writers in January 2025.
