A classic English Stout from Hook Norton Brewery

Hook Norton Brewery is set to launch its first seasonal cask ale of 2026, Double Stout – a classic English stout crafted from the brewery’s original 1898 recipe.

This historic stout offers a timeless taste that proves some things truly don’t need changing. A carefully balanced blend of black and brown malts gives Double Stout its distinctive character. Black malt enriches the beer with its deep, dark ebony colour and delivers unmistakable toasted notes alongside hints of chocolate, coffee, and caramel, while brown malt contributes a satisfying dryness.

Hook Norton Brewery will officially launch Double Stout at a special event at The Bell, Adderbury, on Thursday 29th January from 7pm–8pm, where Rhys, Michelle, and the Hook Norton brewers will be on hand to offer free samples, tasty treats and share the story behind this historic stout.

Double Stout will be appearing on the bar at the brewery and in Hook Norton pubs and free houses across Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, and Worcestershire.

The beer will be available in cask during February only, making it a limited seasonal treat. For those who miss it, Double Stout is also available in bottles all year round from the brewery shop, www.hooky.co.uk and discerning retailers.

A true celebration of tradition, Double Stout is a very fine example of a classic English stout – rich, smooth, and full of character.
