Podcast Ended In April; This Series is a Surprise for Fans and Followers

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – After ending an eight-year run earlier this year, Beer and a Movie is returning for four special episodes during October as part of the show's annual All Horror October tradition.

This surprise four-episode drop is sure to be a surprise for fans of the immensely popular, locally-produced podcast that closed its doors in April of 2026.

The weekly podcast ended after 401 episodes. Over its eight-year run, hosts Joe Hilliard and David Gurney reviewed more than 830 movies and sampled nearly 900 beers. The final episode covered the 1985 film and Corpus Christi cult classic The Legend of Billie Jean.

The podcast typically featured Hilliard and Gurney discussing two movies while sipping on two world-class craft beers, joined by a rotating third guest. All Horror October became one of the show's most popular annual features, with every episode during October devoted to horror films.

“With the end of Beer and a Movie, Dave and I have been able to devote creative energy to other things, but All Horror October was such a special time of year for the show, and we missed doing it just enough to get back together in the studio,” said Hilliard.

The reunion was recorded in secret, with Hilliard and Gurney bringing back original co-hosts and popular guests for four episodes covering different eras and subgenres of horror films. Each All Horror October episode also includes a review of an Oktoberest-style beer.
