The first rooms at The Potter’s Heron, in Chandler’s Ford, have been released for reservation by Heartwood Inns.
The landmark thatched building is currently undergoing an extensive, multi-million-pound refurbishment to create a stunning pub with 323 internal covers, 125 external seats, and 58 beautifully designed bedrooms including two newly created rooms featuring adjoining bunk beds, perfect for families. When complete, The Potter’s Heron will reopen as a warm and welcoming Heartwood Inn infused with the group’s signature charm.
Originally built in 1937, The Potter’s Heron is a cherished local icon. Set in the picturesque Test Valley, a short drive from the New Forest and the South Downs National Park, the pub offers an ideal country escape with easy access for guests travelling from near and far.
Inside, the bar, dining and lounge spaces have been thoughtfully redesigned to celebrate the building’s character and classic countryside allure while creating relaxed, inviting areas for guests to unwind. The landscaped terrace and garden will feature intimate pockets for outdoor dining, perfectly suited to enjoying Heartwood’s seasonal, sustainable menus and its expertly curated drinks list.
Guests will be able to choose from a variety of room styles, all featuring boutique comforts and Heartwood’s much-loved finishing touches including Roberts radios, Chromecast televisions, Bramley toiletries, home-baked treats and rainfall showers, with several rooms also boasting free-standing baths. A selection of the bedrooms will be dog-friendly and designed with families in mind.
The Potters Heron marks Heartwood’s eighth pub with rooms, becoming the Group’s second rooms site in Hampshire and increasing Heartwood’s total room offering to more than 250 ahead of its full reopening in late Spring 2026. Heartwood Collection proudly holds a three-star rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association and was named ‘Best Brand/Concept’ at the 2025 Publican Awards.
Richard Ferrier, CEO, Heartwood Collection, said:
“We are excited to be opening bookings at The Potters Heron and to share a first glimpse of what we’re creating. We can’t wait to welcome guests into this beautiful building to enjoy its history and reveal the thoughtful renovation, cosy rooms and redesigned spaces that are really coming together.”
