ree

Bragdy Twt Lol (The Trefforest Brewery) and Bragdy Cybi have taken home the two Overall Golds in the inuagural Indie Beer Cymru Awards respective cask and keg competitions.

Twt Lol won the Overall Gold in the cask beer competition with their 'Pretty Fly for a Magpie' IPA, described as a 'very hoppy, bitter but smooth IPA with an incredible amount of aroma'. Bragdy Cybi won the Overall Gold in the seperate keg beer competition with '6 Sitra', which contains six varieties of hops including the American Citra hop, which impressed judges with a 'fruit salad of flavours and fruity citrus undertones'.

The Indie Beer Awards are organised by the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates (SIBA) and took place ahead of the opening of the first ever Indie Beer Cymru festival, which begins in Haverfordwest today. SIBA competitions chair Anneli Baxter helped run the awards and was on hand to congratulate the winners;

"The quality of beers across the competition was incredibly high so huge congratulations to all the great breweries named winners in their style category - with so many great beers in the running you should be truly proud of taking home the win. But I want to give particular praise to our two Overall Gold winners who were named the 'best of the best' in our final round judging - huge congratulations to Bragdy Twt Lol and Bragdy Cybi." said Anneli Baxter, SIBA

All of the winners from the Indie Beer Awards Cymru will be on sale today at the first ever Indie Beer Cymru festival in Haverfordwest, featuring a huge range of beers from independent breweries from across Wales in a broad range of styles: From traditional cask bitters and stouts, to modern keg beers, IPAs and lagers.

Indie Beer Cymru starts today (Friday 19th) and continiues tomorrow (Saturday 20th) and is organised by Welsh brewers from the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates, building on the success of the hugely popular Indie Beer Scotland event in Glasgow - which took place a few weeks ago. The festival is the latest from the Indie Beer campaign, which seeks to highlight genuinely independent breweries across the UK.

Winners from the Indie Beer Cymru Awards will be served at the festival and go on to the National UK-wide Finals early next year.
