ree

WHAT: The Midsummer Beer Happening in Stonehaven has opened ticket sales for next year’s exciting event.

WHEN: The Happening is a celebration of the craft of brewing, along with great street food and top musical entertainment, and will be held from Thursday, June 11, to Saturday, June 13.

WHERE: The Happening will take place in a purpose-built marquee in Stonehaven’s Baird Park.

WHO: The Midsummer Beer Happening in Stonehaven is a not-for-profit event organised by local beer fans.

Midwinter Day falls this Sunday – and you can celebrate by booking your place at the Midsummer Beer Happening in Stonehaven as tickets go on sale today (Friday, December 19).

And with just six days to go until Christmas, it’s the chance to give the beer lover in your family the perfect gift – and something to look forward to next June.

It’s the gift that will keep on giving, with more than 150 fantastic specially curated beers, a smorgasbord of award-winning street food vendors and some of the finest musical talent in the north-east providing the soundtrack for the three-day celebration from Thursday, June 11, to Saturday, June 13.

Robert Lindsay, organiser of the Midsummer Beer Happening, said he expected tickets to fly out the door when they go on sale.

“We have already had so many people asking when tickets will be available and today is the day,” he said.

“Not only will beer lovers want to book a place for themselves, but no doubt there will be many people looking for the ideal Christmas present – and what could be a better gift than a night, or a weekend, at one of the best-loved and most popular beer festivals in Scotland?”

Robert added that the winter solstice falls on Sunday, when the shortest day of the year will herald the beginning of the long climb out of winter with the start of lighter nights.

“It really is a cause for celebration and a chance to look forward to the warm sunshine of June and the return of the Midsummer Beer Happening,” said Robert, who is also the founder of Six Degrees North Brewery.

“Plans are already well underway to welcome some 6,000 guests to our purpose-built marquee in Stonehaven’s Baird Park.

“And we are busy scouting for the best beers we can find to suit a wide range of styles and flavours from some of the top craft breweries working today.

“As always, we strive to make every Happening the best yet and we will be unveiling more plans – including some new twists on the festival – in the coming months.”

As well as superb brews, the Happening will again have its popular al fresco food court, which showcases the best of the north-east’s award-winning street vendors. The event will also offer a stage for some of the top music acts in the north-east, who love playing the festival as much as guests love listening to their barnstorming sets.

Also returning will be the Midsummer Beer Happening’s cycling sportive, offering four challenging courses across the lush – and hilly – Mearns landscape.

Robert said: “This is one of the most popular cycling events in the north-east calendar, attracting entrants from across the country.”

The Midsummer Beer Happening is a not-for-profit event, run entirely by volunteers, and is proud to support local charities and organisations with proceeds from the festival.

Since it started as the Stonehaven Real Ale Festival in 2009, it has raised £428,000 for good causes in and around the town.

Robert said: “That our wee event not only gives people a brilliant weekend but also leaves such a lasting legacy and helps change so many lives for the better is always a source of pride for everyone involved.

“That can only happen with the unstinting goodwill and help of everyone from our fantastic volunteers to the wonderful people who choose to come through the door and spend their money with us.

“So, please, grab your tickets now, either for yourself or for friends and family this Christmas.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone to the tent this June.”
