The Three Horseshoes, located in Chesterfield, is set to officially reopen on Thursday 25th of June following a transformational investment of more than £374,401. The pub is part of Proper Pubs, the award-winning community wet-led operator division of Admiral Taverns, which operates more than 200 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.
Behind the bar is passionate community heroes, Will and Rob Bown, who between them bring an impressive 22 years of hospitality experience to the role. Their expertise, combined with their energy and enthusiasm, enables them to create a lively social hub for customers to enjoy, further cementing the pub at the heart of the local community.
Inside, the pub has been completely transformed to include brand new flooring, fixtures and fittings throughout, as well as six flat screen televisions fitted with Sky and TNT Sports. The refurbished pub will also include a brand-new dartboard and pool table in the games area for customers to enjoy, along with an updated bar and snug area.
Outside, the Three Horseshoes has been given a fresh new look, complete with brand-new lighting and signage. The pub's exterior has been freshly painted, and the beautifully refurbished beer garden.
It will offer a wide range of drinks promotions, including a £10 bottle of wine deal running from Monday to Thursday, Fizz Friday, offering customers a bottle of fizz for £10, along with cocktails, bottle and shot deals throughout the week.
Will Bown, Operator of The Three Horseshoes, said: "Watching this incredible transformation unfold has been an amazing journey. Admiral's expertise and guidance have been invaluable throughout, they really took the time to understand exactly what this pub means to the community and helped turn that vision into a reality.
We're so proud to be opening the doors to both new and familiar faces and we know customers are going to love it."
To celebrate the opening weekend, the pub will have a live tribute act of Stevie Nicks beginning at 8pm on Thursday night.
The operators will also host a busy schedule of entertainment for customers to enjoy in the future. They are also hoping to support all aspects of community life by collecting food to donate to the local foodbank and by raising money for a bleed kit to be installed on the outside of the pub. Going forward, they also hope to support Pathways of Chesterfield, a homelessness support charity by organising fundraising events for them.
Matt Gurney, Operations Director for Proper Pubs, said: "It's a real pleasure to have Rob and Will at the helm of the Three Horseshoes and it's great to see how well the refurbishment is coming along.
The Three Horseshoes has always been a much-loved part of the local community, and we know it will continue to be a real hub for everyone, whether you're popping in for a quiet pint, catching up with friends, or joining in with local events.
On behalf of myself and the whole Proper Pubs team, we would like to wish Rob and Will the very best of luck in their future endeavours at the Three Horseshoes."
Proper Pubs is always looking for ways to support its communities through an annual schedule of events and fundraising initiatives. This year over Easter it collected 21,619 easter eggs to donate to local charities and in 2025 operators collected 20,500 selection boxes to donate to local charities and communities in need for Christmas, as well as raising £80,255 for Admiral Taverns' charity partner, Claire House Hospice.
Furthermore, last year, Proper Pubs also successfully donated enough food to local foodbanks across the UK to feed 1,300 people for a week and has also been recognised in the UK-wide defibrillator installation campaign which has already saved 11 lives.
In 2026, Proper Pubs was listed as a finalist in the Best Community Pub category at the Great British Publican Awards and was previously crowned Community Pub Operator at the Publican Awards in 2024. Proper Pubs is committed to supporting operators to run successful pubs with sustainable, long-term futures. The best operators are passionate about pubs and eager to play a central role in their local communities. With a diverse range of pubs available across the UK, Proper Pubs is always looking for talented people who are ready to take the next step and run their own pub.
Operating as a true partnership, running a Proper Pub gives people the chance to manage and shape the day-to-day operations of the pub with the security of being part of the Admiral Taverns group and the expert support from dedicated Business Development Managers.
For many, it's an opportunity not just to take on a pub, but to build a long-term career they are passionate about.
