Family Brewer Shepherd Neame Seeks New Licensee for Newly Refurbished Railway Hotel

A much-loved Victorian pub in one of Faversham's most prominent locations is searching for a new tenant to lead its next chapter following an extensive refurbishment.

Shepherd Neame's The Railway Hotel in Preston Street, Faversham, has been welcoming customers since the 1850s and is now looking for dynamic new operators to relaunch the business and build on its loyal local following.

One of the first landmarks visitors see when arriving in the bustling market town, the pub is a stone's throw from Faversham station. It recently underwent a sympathetic refurbishment, with improvements including a refreshed centrepiece bar, new furniture, redecorated interiors and renovated flooring.

The Railway Hotel has been tastefully redecorated inside and out, including its six guest rooms, which now benefit from upgraded en-suite facilities. A striking entrance lobby reflects the building's historic significance while ensuring it retains a welcoming feel.

Outside, the extensive courtyard provides a sun trap in the summer months, with its many picnic benches and outdoor bar. It is also a hive of live music, at weekends and especially during the Faversham Hop Festival.

There is also a restaurant area and kitchen, capable of serving up to 70 covers, as well as private accommodation with a lounge, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms.

Just a few minutes' walk from Shepherd Neame's historic brewery, The Railway Hotel is currently under brewery management while the search continues for the right licensee to take the business forward.

Prospective operators can choose between a traditional style Tenancy Agreement or Shepherd Neame's recently launched Tenancy Partnership Agreement, that has been created to provide tenants with an enhanced level of support whilst they are running their pub with them.

Benefits of a Partnership agreement include regular business reviews and practical guidance from your Partnership Manager; minimised ingoing costs and simplified monthly costs; bespoke sales, marketing and brand support; access to central purchasing and utility rates; high-performance reliable technology packages and the support of an external accounting partner.

Dan Sidders, Shepherd Neame's Head of Tenanted Business Partnerships, said: "We believe The Railway has a fantastic future ahead of it, building on its rich history and strong reputation within the local community.

"The Railway represents a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and hands-on publican, with strong food, drink and accommodation experience and a clear vision for marketing, events and community engagement, to make their mark in Faversham."
