From Cornwall to Birmingham: Attic and St Austell Brewery Join Forces to Launch Proper Intuition Nationwide in Waitrose

Two breweries, two flagship beers and one exciting collaboration, as Birmingham's Attic and Cornwall's St Austell Brewery come together to create Proper Intuition, a playful nod to their flagship beers, St Austell Brewery’s Proper Job and Attic's Intuition.
Birmingham, UK, October 2026: Birmingham-based brewery Attic has teamed up with Cornwall's St Austell Brewery to launch Proper Intuition, a 4.5% hazy pale ale available in Waitrose stores nationwide from Sunday 1st November 2026.
The collaboration celebrates the character and heritage of both breweries, combining their shared passion for brewing great beer with a love of bringing people together. The result is a hazy pale ale that puts a fresh spin on two well-loved favourites.
For Attic, which was founded in Birmingham in 2018, the Waitrose launch marks another exciting milestone as the brewery continues to grow and introduce its beers to drinkers across the UK.
And the celebrations don't stop at the beer.
To mark the launch, Deathrow Pizza, based at Attic's bars, the taproom in Stirchley and The Barrel Store in the Jewellery Quarter, will be creating a limited-edition Cornish pasty-inspired calzone, bringing a smile and a little taste of Cornwall to Birmingham.
The calzone will be available at both bars from Tuesday 3rd to Sunday 8th November 2026, giving customers the chance to enjoy a taste of Cornwall alongside the new beer.
Oli Hurlow, Co-Founder of Attic, said: "We're really excited to be working with St Austell Brewery on Proper Intuition. Proper Job and Intuition are two beers that have played a huge part in our respective breweries' journeys, so bringing them together felt like a brilliant opportunity to create something new.
We're incredibly proud of our Birmingham roots, and it's fantastic to see a beer created in collaboration with such an established Cornish brewery heading into Waitrose stores nationwide."
Georgina Young, Brewing Director at St Austell Brewery, said: "Proper Job is an iconic beer that has been at the heart of our brewery for many years, so when the chance arose to collaborate with Attic, it felt like a natural fit. Intuition plays a similarly important role for Attic, making this a meeting of two much-loved flagship beers. It was great to work with Attic's Head Brewer, Harry Gwilliam, on the recipe, combining our shared passion for brewing and innovation. Proper Intuition brings together the best of both breweries, creating a fresh, modern pale ale.”
Proper Intuition will be available in Waitrose stores nationwide from Sunday 1st November 2026, as well as the taproom and The Barrel Store in Birmingham.
Deathrow Pizza's limited-edition Cornish pasty-inspired calzone will be available at the taproom in Stirchley and The Barrel Store, Jewellery Quarter, from Tuesday 3rd to Sunday 8th November 2026.
