Ethnic Minority focused Employee Led Inclusion Group, Unity, picks up Most Impactful Employee Resource Group
CEO, Nick Mackenzie, awarded Most Inclusive Group Chief Executive Officer
Greene King, the country’s leading pub company and brewer, is celebrating after winning two awards at the WiHTL Inclusion In Awards on Tuesday evening (14 October).
Unity, the company’s employee led inclusion group (ELIG) that represents ethnic minorities and their allies, was awarded Most Impactful Employee Resource Group, with Nick Mackenzie being named the Most Inclusive Group Chief Executive Officer in Hospitality, Travel and Leisure.
The WiHTL Inclusion In Awards recognise and celebrate organisations, teams and individuals who go above and beyond in promoting inclusion and positive changes across the Hospitality, Travel, Leisure, and Retail industry. The awards also acknowledge those helping to make a real difference to improve the working lives of the millions of people within these sectors.
Unity was recognised for its outstanding efforts in championing, raising awareness of and celebrating ethnic diversity across Greene King. This year’s judges praised the winning group for the energy, influence, and impact they’ve had across their organisation, setting a benchmark for what ERGs can achieve when they are supported and empowered. Unity plays a key role in reviewing company policies, advising on best practise, and supporting colleagues from all backgrounds. Their dedication ensures that everyone’s voice is heard and respected throughout the business.
Jasveer Banning, Chair of Unity at Greene King, said: “I am beyond proud that the team have been recognised with this award. We are a group of passionate individuals and allies, all committed to driving positive change and awareness and encouraging conversations to help make a difference for our colleagues across the whole business, from support centres through to our pubs. It takes a village, and we cannot wait to see where 2026 takes us. Here is to creating a culture of everyday inclusion for all.”
Jasveer was also recognised during the evening with a Highly Commended award for Inclusion Hero in Hospitality, Travel and Leisure.
Greene King’s commitment to inclusion and diversity extends beyond these awards. The company is committed to ensuring that Inclusion and Diversity remain a focus for the business and earlier this year Nick Mackenzie signed WiHTL’s CEO Pledge.
These achievements further highlight Greene King’s dedication to championing inclusion and diversity. Earlier this year, CEO Nick Mackenzie signed WiHTL’s CEO Pledge, reaffirming his commitment to both the sector and team members that inclusion is, and will remain, a focus for Greene King.
