Horsforth Brewery Brings a Landmark Lager Festival to Yorkshire

Horsforth Brewery is proud to announce Lager than Life, a celebration of lager in all its glorious forms, taking place over the weekend of Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th May 2026 at the brewery taproom in Horsforth, Leeds. With 20+ lagers on pour spanning an array of sub-styles and countries of origin, this is the Yorkshire lager event of the year.

The Beer

Lager than Life makes the case that lager is one of the world's most diverse and misunderstood beer styles. The festival will showcase over 20 carefully selected lagers from Czech, German, wider European and British breweries, covering an impressive range of sub-styles including:

• Pilsner – the crisp, hoppy gold standard of Czech and German brewing

• Helles – soft, malty and eminently drinkable Bavarian lager

• Dunkel – rich, dark and malt-forward with hints of chocolate and bread

• Doppelbock – deep, warming and full-bodied lagers with serious depth

• Baltic Porter – robust and complex, brewed cold in the Baltic tradition

• …and more surprises across the lager spectrum

Whether you're a devoted lager drinker or a craft beer fan curious about the style's broader canvas, Lager than Life will have something to broaden your horizons.

Sessions & Tickets

The festival runs across four sessions:

• Friday 22nd May – Evening session

• Saturday 23rd May – Afternoon session

• Saturday 23rd May – Evening session

• Sunday 24th May – Afternoon session

Tickets are priced at £6.50 per session or £10 for a weekend ticket, and include entry plus a festival glass. Beers are available to purchase separately throughout each session. The taproom will be open as normal throughout the festival.

Food

Food will be provided throughout the festival by Meanwood Pizza, serving up freshly made pizza to keep festival-goers fuelled between pints.

There's an incredible world of lager out there – nuanced, complex, full of character – and Lager than Life is our chance to put that on show. Initial pre-sales have been encouraging, which shows there is definitely an appetite to see what the world of lager can offer. Our beer festivals are always incredibly popular and we're looking forward to exploring these beers with the attendees of this festival."
