The Fuller’s Griffin Brewery, one of the UK’s oldest breweries, is marking 180 years of brewing heritage this November by unveiling an Anniversary Porter, beautifully crafted gift boxes, and providing special behind-the-scenes Griffin Brewery tours. In 1845, John ‘Bird’ Fuller partnered with Henry Smith and John Turner to establish Fuller, Smith & Turner at the Griffin Brewery in Chiswick, West London. Over the next 180 years, the company built a strong reputation for quality and innovation, crafting iconic beers such as London Pride and ESB. Since its acquisition by Asahi in 2019, Fuller’s Brewery has continued to invest in its legacy, blending modern advancement with a deep respect for its heritage.
Fuller’s new 180th Anniversary Porter has an ABV of 7.0% and celebrates its history with a masterful blend of Pale, Extra Dark Crystal, Brown and Chocolate malts, layered over classic Fuggles hops. The porter reveals deep chocolate richness, complemented by raisin and burnt sugar nuances from the Extra Dark Crystal malt, resulting in a dark, complex brew and a warming depth that’s guaranteed to honour the tradition and craft the brand is truly known for. Available from the Griffin Brewery Shop for £7.50, each 500ml bottle comes in a luxury gift box.
Fuller’s has also unveiled a gift pack for its Imperial Stout, a jet-black masterpiece with an ABV of 10.7%, offering tastes of bitter chocolate, cocoa powder, creamy malt, burnt fruit and notes of Turkish Delight and marshmallow. No year would be complete without a Fuller’s Vintage Ale and Fuller’s 180th anniversary year calls for something truly special. Its 2025 Vintage has an ABV of 8.4% and blends modern Most hop with older UK varieties, Pioneer and Phoenix. This Vintage Ale experience offers red fruit and citrus notes in combination with lemon and molasses from the UK hops. Alongside a malt bill with extra dark crystal brings raisin and fruitcake notes while Caragold adds caramel sweetness.
To further celebrate this milestone anniversary, special Fuller’s Griffin brewery tours will visit parts of the site not usually open to the public; a unique opportunity to see further into the heart of this historic brewery. Visitors will also be able to view a recently certified World Origin Site plaque, marking the site of the establishment of Fuller’s Brewery by Fuller, Smith & Turner in 1845.
But the celebrations aren’t confined to Fuller’s Thames-side brewery. Fuller’s glass is always half full and on its 180th birthday. Fuller’s Griffin Brewery will be partnering with Fuller, Smith & Turner pubs and hotels to give back to their valued customers. That’s why when a customer buys a drink in a Fuller, Smith & Turner managed pub from 10th–12th November between 18:45–20:25, the times marking the years since Fuller’s was established, they will enjoy half of the drink on the house. It’s a way of saying ‘thank you’ to their customers for their loyalty, smiles, and all the good times shared together.
Guy Stewart, Head Brewer at Fuller’s Griffin Brewery, said: “Fuller's Griffin Brewery has been at the heart of the community for 180 years, producing landmark brews that focus on quality and provenance. Our commitment to craftsmanship has meant Fuller’s beers have truly stood the test of time and we are proud to be celebrating this milestone with our 180th Anniversary Porter.”
Gift packs for Fuller’s 180th Anniversary Porter, Imperial Stout, and Vintage Ale 2025 are available from the Fuller’s Griffin Brewery Shop now.
