Bristol, 18th September, 2025 – Lost and Grounded Brewers are thrilled to announce they have won a gold award at the European Beer Star beer competition with their Wanna Go To The Sun Pale Ale. This is a huge achievement for the team as the European Beer Star is one of the largest and most prestigious beer competitions in the world, and the largest in Germany, with around 2200 beers competing in 74 different categories in this year’s contest.
The beers were tasted and evaluated by a panel of 150 international experts, including master brewers, trade journalists, beer sommeliers and other beer experts. During the two-day blind tasting in Nuremberg at the beginning of August, the European Beer Star judges assessed the submitted beers purely on the basis of sensory criteria - appearance, aroma and taste - as well as the typical characteristics of the different beer styles. In the end, only the three best beers in each category were awarded the coveted medals in gold, silver and bronze.
The brewery’s refreshing pale ale ‘Wanna Go To The Sun’ came out on top against intense competition in the International-Style Ale category, a testament to the skill of their brewing team. "Our beer competition has an excellent reputation worldwide and is highly regarded in the brewing industry. The European Beer Star is considered the toughest beer competition in the world among the participating breweries. Every year, our tasters confirm the high standard of the beers submitted. Often only nuances decide who goes home with a medal," explains Kilian Kittl, Managing Director of the organizer Private Brauereien Bayern.
At the official European Beer Star 2025 Award Ceremony, which took place on Wednesday 17th September as part of the Drinktec trade fair in Munich, the Lost and Grounded team were presented with their well-deserved award. "We are extremely proud that our “Wanna Go To The Sun” Pale Ale was able to impress the expert panel of judges and win the gold medal. This success shows that we are at the very top worldwide when it comes to beer quality, and we are so proud of our entire team for gaining this recognition.” exclaims Co-Founder, Alex Troncoso.
