Rachel Auty has been appointed Deputy Chair of the British Guild of Beer Writers.

Auty joined the Guild's board as a director in 2023. A marketing and communications consultant, she has worked extensively across the beer industry since 2017 in roles including founder of the social enterprise Women On Tap CIC and former Head of Marketing at Brew York. She was also awarded a silver Guild award in 2021.

A passionate ambassador for UK beer and a champion of inclusion, Auty is committed to amplifying diverse voices, celebrating communications talent, and promoting accessible storytelling and education around beer and pubs.

Auty said: "I'm really looking forward to working with Jonny, Mike, and the wider board, and supporting the Guild's work and membership as Deputy Chair. The Guild's board members are all driven by our shared passion for the beer industry and those who work within it. We're proud to represent the very best of beer and cider communicators, who are such an important asset to the wider industry."

Jonny Garrett, Chair of the Guild board, adds: "It's been brilliant working with Rachel on the board, and I'm excited to get to work closer with her on all the ambitions we have for the guild. It's a difficult time for many of our individual members and industry partners, and having creative and hard working people like Rachel at the top of the Guild will help us navigate it."

The British Guild of Beer Writers was founded in 1988 as a non-political body with the aim of promoting excellence in beer, cider, and pub communications. It supports communicators in their professional and skills development, and works to educate, inform, and inspire people about beer, cider, and pubs.
