Garage Project is an independent brewery based in Wellington, New Zealand. We’re known for challenging the notions of what beer can be since 2011. At our heart, we’re a progressive team that believes in brewing beautiful, unique New Zealand beers that are worth sharing. We’re here to try something new. Just like you.
It’s been a very long time in-between drinks, but Garage Project is finally sending beers to the UK - at this stage, a single drop with limited stock. And they’ve actually landed, now, too! So, we wanted to make sure you knew about it, in case it’s of interest to you.
We’ve chosen these 19 beers to showcase the best of our delicious New Zealand ingredients, our distinctive brewing personality and our favourites. The line-up includes cult hits like Pernicious Weed and Pickle Beer, NZ’s #1 craft non-alcoholic Tiny But Mighty, and a selection of bottles from our internationally-awarded Wild Workshop mixed-fermentation site.
We’re throwing a party at great venues around the UK to celebrate - this Saturday 16th May. These venues are the first places to get GP, and pretty much the only places where GP will be on tap.
Our beer will be landing in great beer-sellers around the UK following the first pour celebrations, from Monday 18th May. We have more info on our website - including a list of all the places where GP can be found.
A bit more about us
We generally don't focus on the awards and recognition we've been lucky enough to receive - like the Brits, we find it a bit awkward. However, we figure they might be helpful context for folks not from New Zealand, who haven't met us before. So, with that in mind:
In a competitive craft scene, there’s some good enthusiasm for the beers we brew - as of writing, Garage Project beers occupy 36 of the top 50 spots in NZ’s top-rated beers on Untappd, including all ten of the top ten
Beyond New Zealand, we recently landed as the #6 brewery worldwide in the Untappd Community Awards
We’ve been pouring at the prestigious annual Firestone Walker Invitational in California since 2014 (we even won People’s Choice a couple times), and we recently presented our industry-leading Hāpi Research work on hop thiols in NZ hop varieties at this year’s Craft Brewers Conference in Philadelphia.
We've medalled at the World Beer Cup six times over the years, including winning New Zealand’s first ever gold at the most recent awards
And - much to our surprise and delight - one of our beers received a bronze medal in the 2026 Brussels Beer Challenge - the first non-Belgian brewery to do so in the Old style Gueuze-Lambic category
